U-Ship to launch Internet delivery service
MINNEAPOLIS, Jan 4 (Reuters) - U-Ship Inc., which provides automatic shipping
centers, said Monday it plans to launch a specialized electronic courier and delivery service
that will transmit word processing documents, X-rays, sound, photos and other data over
Peter Lytle, chief executive officer, said in a statement that the company thinks up to 22 percent of all current documents sent
by couriers will be electronically delivered within the next three to four years.
''As a company in the courier business, we need to remain at the forefront of any changes in our business,'' Lytle said.
''Our users will have the ability to order the delivery of a hard copy at the push of a button, if they need one to back up the
electronic version or find out if the document was received,'' he added.
U-Ship, which does business as United Shipping and Technology, began studying electronic and Internet document exchanges
last June. The company hired a software-consulting firm to work on the design and implementation of the system, which will be
managed internally by the company.
Good luck and do your DD!!!
