I have worked in the computer field for over 10 years and I can't understand why IBM's share price has risen nearly 30% in the last few months. Most large Fortune 1000 accounts I have seen deride IBM and only use them for large mainframe operations. IBM's PC's and PC software programs have been the joke of the industry and I have seen where IBM has been literally been run out of some accounts. Even with healthy mainframe sales, most companies I see are eager to unload them and move to client-server platforms wherever possible. Despite the recent drop in shareprice, does anyone out there think that IBM is going to continue to increase market share and revenues and will regain its market leader status in client-server? It seems to me that much of the rise in share price has been due to the CEO's relentless downsizing in which usually the most talented IBM'ers leave first. Any ex-IBM'rs out there who want to comment on this one? | ||||||||||||||
