As many of you are aware, the mining industry has suffered several hard blows over the past few years. In the wake of the termoil, another threader and myself have gotten together to form a mining association in an attempt to help the industry out and those investing in it.

I wanted to start this thread to make everyone aware of the new association that is being formed and also to give us a place to discuss current industry issues, technologies and concerns. Although precious metals interests will be a major part of the association, we will attempt to bring in all types of mining into the effort of improving the status quo.

The association will be open to individuals, corporations(both public and private) and their vendors and will be offering a low cost quarterly newsletter which will cover various technologies or procedures being tried in the industry. It will also attempt to offer insights of companies and their operations through letters written by them. The newsletter will not attempt to offer buy/sell recommendations for any company but will focus on the industry as a whole. I will attempt to bring in analyst's predictions from published sources as well as various letter writer's opinions of the current market.

The first post to this thread is a portion of the letter of introduction that we will be sending out over the next several months and I would like to invite everyone to bring their thoughts and comments. It is time that the mining industry takes a lesson from the rest of the world and becomes more efficient and more unified in their efforts.
