Swedish quality co. Hexagon is doing a spinoff right now.

The new spin-co, Octave, will be listed in the US.

Last day to buy Hexagon shares incl. the rights to Octave shares is tomorrow.

However, I think there will be lots of forced selling in the spin-co. Also, Octave is a software co – so no-one will want to buy the stock right now, as software is not cool at the moment. So probably no need to rush in; only fools rush in!

This is not Hexagon's first spin-off – in 2008, they spun off Hexpol, which is also a quality co., and whose stock has also performed well.

Later in the year, another quality co. – SKF – will do a spin-off. I think it may be a good idea to own that stock through that event, as everyone seems to hate the part of the business that is being spun-off. One might perhaps get the spin-off almost "for free", as the RemainCo might perhaps get a higher valuation than before.

Some that I find interesting:

* Unilever

Some interesting ones in Sweden (all of these will take place in 2026):
* ABB
* Hexagon
* SKF

I love it when already profitable and stable businesses "throw off" a part of themselves. All of the above-mentioned ones are examples of that – and most of the spin-offs that I will bring up on this thread going forward will be such situations.
