Since Donald Trump has turned our nation’s 250th anniversary into a celebration of himself — complete with grift — let’s imagine a Fourth of July that might have been.

In this alternate history, the 2024 presidential election ended differently. Vice President Kamala Harris was elected the 47th president of the United States. Two years later, the nation is still marked by political polarization and economic uncertainty. On July 4, 2026, America celebrates 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

Perhaps the most striking feature of this alternate 2026 is tonal. The central theme of Harris’ speech at the 2024 Democratic National Convention was “Take Back the Flag,” a message she had touted since her days serving as a senator from California. Since her closing argument during that campaign emphasized “turning the page” on division, it’s safe to say that unity in the name of patriotism would be her paramount goal during the festivities.

The morning begins in Philadelphia, where President Harris delivers remarks from Independence Hall. Behind her hangs the same flag that has witnessed countless presidential speeches. Rather than framing the anniversary as a victory for one political party, she describes it as a milestone belonging to every American.

Harris’ address at the site of the Declaration’s signing does not shy away from America’s contradictions. She references slavery alongside liberty, exclusion alongside opportunity and struggle alongside progress. Instead of presenting history as either flawless or irredeemably broken, she portrays the United States as an ongoing democratic experiment whose greatest strength lies in its ability to reform itself. Instead of the protective fortification of concrete barriers and razor wire, the National Mall is marked by a sprawling, deliberate openness. The air carries the distinct rhythm of go-go music — a genre founded in D.C. — drifting from a stage near the Smithsonian and mingling with the scent of street food from vendors who have set up shop along paths not too heavily policed. The official semiquincentennial parade down Constitution Avenue is led not by military armor but by marching bands from the nation’s Historically Black Colleges and Universities. Gospel choirs, country musicians, jazz ensembles, mariachi groups, Indigenous performers, military bands and local community orchestras share stages throughout the city.

The diversity — of people, of music, of food — is intentional and natural: In Kamala Harris’s America, patriotism is defined less by isolated executive spectacle than by systemic civic participation. This broader, decentralized spirit manifests visibly across the country. Libraries host readings of the Declaration of Independence. Museums waive admission fees. National parks feature volunteer service projects. Small towns hold July Fourth breakfasts for first responders and military families, city neighborhoods stage local history walks and the Smithsonian offers nationwide digital exhibits that are accessible all year to nearly every public school classroom. Instead of treating history as a static, unyielding marble monument to be worshiped blindly, the nation is encouraged to treat it as a shared inheritance — one that has been unevenly distributed across generations, but that remains collectively owned.

The Harris administration would treat the Fourth as a civic report card: Here is what the country has done, here is who has benefited and here is what still needs fixing before the 300th. In that world, fireworks might be accompanied by announcements about climate resilience projects or summer meal expansions for children.

The reality of July 4, 2026, under the all-too-real administration of Donald Trump, stands in brutal, absolute opposition to the inclusive civic vision that might have been. Rather than allowing America250, the nonpartisan organization Congress established in 2016 to lead a unifying national commemoration, the Trump White House staged a hostile takeover of the anniversary. When the leadership of the America250 Foundation resisted demands to transform the semiquincentennial into a hyper-partisan, campaign-style spectacle centered entirely on the president, the administration simply bypassed them altogether. They constructed Freedom 250 LLC, a shadow corporate entity embedded within the National Park Foundation, effectively hijacking the national celebration to serve a singular man’s vanity, political ideology and private financial interests.

According to an explosive interim congressional report released by Democrats on the House Natural Resources Committee’s oversight subcommittee, this shadow organization allegedly converted a historic public milestone into a sprawling web of corruption and pay-to-play schemes. Fundraisers for Freedom 250 systematically diverted resources away from the official, bipartisan commission. The report documents instances that may constitute federal wire fraud, revealing that unsuspecting private donors who intended to support the congressionally chartered foundation were apparently surreptitiously handed Freedom 250’s bank account and routing numbers instead. Presidential access was openly commercialized, the report alleges, with sponsorship packages starting at $500,000 and climbing above $10 million, offering wealthy individuals and corporations facing impending federal regulations an “historic photo opportunity” with Trump on the South Lawn of the White House.

Where Harris’s alternate anniversary seeks to engage with the full, complicated tapestry of the American narrative, Trump’s reality imposes a falsified, heavily sanitized history designed to suit a distorted vision of the past. In a move that lays bare the administration’s contempt for democratic norms, an organization previously responsible for planning events surrounding the Jan. 6 insurrection was officially contracted to help orchestrate the nation’s 250th birthday celebrations. Christian nationalist ideology has been aggressively injected into official government events, systematically eroding the constitutional wall of church-state separation. Under loose and unchecked logo licensing, Freedom 250 has allowed deeply racist merchandise to be branded and sold under the official government banner. According to the interim congressional report, the private, personal information of ordinary Americans has been actively harvested; thousands of citizens who signed up through registration systems for free public events, such as a FIFA World Cup Fan Zone on the National Mall, apparently had their data unknowingly fed directly into a Republican political campaign apparatus.

Ultimately, what a different outcome might genuinely have changed is more than tonal.

The physical reality of our capital city today reflects Trump’s obsession with gaudy, commercialized authoritarianism. The White House is dominated by fake gold trinkets. The president’s social media feed pumps out deranged artificial intelligence-generated promotional videos. Trump parades his family around in a jet once owned by a foreign country that cost taxpayers $400 million to retrofit. Meanwhile, his ongoing plans to bulldoze his way through destroying the historical and aesthetic integrity of Washington are projected to siphon more than $1 billion of American taxpayer money.

Whether the country’s 250th birthday feels like a rare civic milestone to celebrate or not depends, for many, on acknowledging the harsh truths of our era. While Kamala Harris was not elected in 2024, I can take the smallest comfort in knowing that, back in the reality of Donald Trump’s America, his national boondoggle on the Mall has failed miserably.

Former Vice President Kamala (hic!) Harris recently opined that there are “ no bad ideas” when it comes to brainstorming ways to reinvigorate the Democrat party.

During a May 13th livestream on something called the "Win with Black Women" podcast, Hic! Harris suggested that the Democrat party prepare an "expanded playbook" of ideas to help it retake power after the 2026 midterm elections.

Harris opined:

"And in that no bad ideas brainstorm, we talk about what we need to do and think about doing around the Electoral College. We talk about the idea of Supreme Court reform, which includes expanding the Supreme Court. We invite a conversation about multi-member districts."

The old sot suggested that, when Democrats retake the Senate, the Senate Judiciary Committee should quickly establish rules to "penalize people for lying" for Supreme Court justices and nominees.

It is always hilarious when Democrats speak of their dislike for lying … and always lie.

They are to prevarication as Kamala is to drinking, as retrievers are to … retrieving things. They can’t help themselves.

The Tipsy One added,

“Let's talk about statehood for Puerto Rico and D.C. These are the things I think that we've got to do.”

She concluded by saying of Democrats:

"We gotta fight fire with fire. We gotta be ruthless, too."

Democrats start fires. (They don’t always put them out, as clearly demonstrated in Los Angeles County last year.) And Democrats have always been ruthless, whether they were plantation owners or, more recently, possessed by Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS) and the rabid desire to dispense, by any means necessary, with those with whom they disagree.

As for the notion that there are no bad ideas? How about “Let’s kill all the Jews” or “Islam is totally compatible with a free, democratic republic?” Or even, “I’ve only had 10 rum and cokes, I think I’ll take a nice drive in my car?” And let’s be honest, Kamala doesn’t have brainstorms, she has perhaps a mild squall or minor dust-up on occasion, maybe even a moderate gust of wind, but no brainstorms.

So, Democrats, just continue to call conservatives Nazis. Keep trying to imprison all your political opponents. An assassination or two might be needed here and there to, you know, “save our democracy.” (The problem is that Democrats actually think the country is their democracy, and that no one else has a right to govern it.)

Kamala may still have her mind set on Running for President Under the Influence (RPUI), but it is hard to see any current likely Democrat heading a ticket the equal of Vance-Rubio or vice-versa. As sure as water is wet, Democrats will resort to their time-tested tactics of slander, libel, lies, gas-lighting, projection, and cheating.

Maybe they should just, hic!, forcibly take power via a good, old-fashioned insurrection?

Anything to save their our democracy, right?

It wasn’t too long ago that Kamala Harris was looking about as much like a viable presidential candidate for 2028 as William Henry Harrison does. A lengthy Dec. 2025 New York Times puff piece on her attempted to dispel that impression but only ended up reinforcing it. The Paper of Record asked: “She was seen for two decades as a future face of the Democratic Party. Is she now suddenly a figure of its past?”

The answer seemed to scream from every pathetic detail the Times adduced to try to show her continuing relevance and viability as a candidate: yes, Harris is done, she was a DEI hire, and the wave of DEI hires has crested; the pendulum even among Democrats is swinging back toward at least the appearance of competence.

Even Harris herself struck an elegiac note, insisting that she was bound for the history books: “I understand the focus on ’28 and all that. But there will be a marble bust of me in Congress. I am a historic figure like any vice president of the United States ever was.”

When a politician starts speaking about his or her place in history, you know the electorate won’t have her to kick around anymore, and that seemed to be eminently the case with Harris is more details emerged of the disastrous failures of her 2024 presidential campaign. The left’s attention turned to seemingly more sellable candidates such as Gavin Newsom and Pete Buttigieg (really).

Yet now Harris doesn’t appear to be content to be just another bust in the Hall of Useless Politicians. At the National Action Network on Friday, she told the Rev. Al Sharpton, who would like nothing better than to play king- or queenmaker that she was strongly considering running for president in 2028: “Listen, I might, I might. I’m thinking about it. I’ll keep you posted.”

The crowd appeared thrilled to hear this, as Harris’ forty minutes on stage “was peppered with cheers and a standing ovation from attendees.” Politico noted that “the former vice president has toyed with the idea before, but her comments Friday took on a new meaning in front of an audience full of Black lawmakers, influential power brokers and voters at what amounted to the first major cattle-call for the potential 2028 Democratic field.”

Harris, after spectacularly botching not only her presidential campaign, but also her tenure in one of the least demanding jobs on the planet, the vice presidency, actually claimed to be the experienced candidate, telling Sharpton: “I know what the job is and what it requires.”

Yeah, no. Kamala Harris was an ineffectual and responsibility-evading (remember, she was the “border czar” who never went to the border) second banana to a figurehead president in the throes of dementia. Other people were actually exercising the powers of the presidency; all Harris and Biden did was act as fronts for the real authorities.

“I think we need to be transactional voters,” she said to scattered cheers in the room. “Here’s what I’m suggesting in addition: get yours. Vote and say, ‘I’m voting because I expect something out of this’…. I’m saying it’s okay to also give people permission to be transactional, and to say, if you will get my vote, this is what I expect. I expect to get something out of this.”

On second thought, No, I’m not going to “thank” Kamala Harris or anyone else for the right to vote.

That right wasn’t handed down by politicians, it was fought for and secured long before her.

And the idea of being a “transactional voter” needs a bit of honesty. If it means “I’ll support policies that benefit my family, my business, and my country, and I expect results,” then congratulations, that’s just being a responsible voter.

That’s how democracy is supposed to work.

But if it means “I’m owed something personally in exchange for my vote,” then we’ve crossed into something a lot less noble.

Politicians aren’t doing us favors. They’re applying for a job. We’re the employers.

I don’t need permission to vote in my own self-interest, and I don’t need to dress it up as gratitude.

I expect competence, accountability, and results. If I don’t get them, I vote accordingly.

After spending time taking stock of her crushing defeat at the hands of President Donald Trump in 2024, Harris said she has yet to rule out getting humiliated on a national stage once again.

"The last time, I got fewer votes, and the other person, he got more votes. So basically, that's bad," explained Harris. "I've had time now to reflect, and I'm thinking I should do that again. Last time, I got to meet Cardi B and see a yellow school bus. Who doesn't love a yellow school bus? HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Am I right?"

Veterans of Harris's 2024 campaign expressed interest in losing once more, but in a different way. "Kamala is deeply unlikable and incompetent, and we think we can leverage that into another national embarrassment," said former campaign manager Julie Rodriguez. "We've already seen some solid internal polling that shows Kamala could be in a great position to lose in 2028, maybe even worse than in 2024. She could lose all sorts of new states. It's really exciting to think about."

At publishing time, Kamala had announced that she also had yet to rule out ordering a fourth glass of wine.

Some Questions for Kamala Harris About Eligibility

The fact that Senator Kamala Harris has just been named the vice presidential running mate for presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden has some questioning her eligibility for the position. The 12th Amendment provides that "no person constitutionally ineligible to the office of President shall be eligible to that of Vice-President of the United States." And Article II of the Constitution specifies that "[n]o person except a natural born citizen...shall be eligible to the office of President." Her father was (and is) a Jamaican national, her mother was from India, and neither was a naturalized U.S. citizen at the time of Harris' birth in 1964. That, according to these commentators, makes her not a "natural born citizen"—and therefore ineligible for the office of the president and, hence, ineligible for the office of the vice president.

"Nonsense," runs the counter-commentary. Indeed, PolitiFact rated the claim of ineligibility as "Pants on Fire" false, Snopes rated it simply "False," and from the other side of the political spectrum, Conservative Daily News likewise rated it "False." All three (and numerous others) simply assert that Harris is eligible because she was born in Oakland—and is therefore a natural-born citizen from location of birth. The 14th Amendment says so, they all claim, and the Supreme Court so held in the 1898 case of U.S. v. Wong Kim Ark.

But those claims are erroneous, at least as the Citizenship Clause of the 14th Amendment was originally understood—an error to which even my good friend, renowned UCLA School of Law professor Eugene Volokh, has fallen prey.

The language of Article II is that one must be a natural-born citizen. The original Constitution did not define citizenship, but the 14th Amendment does—and it provides that "all persons born...in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens." Those who claim that birth alone is sufficient overlook the second phrase. The person must also be "subject to the jurisdiction" of the United States, and that meant subject to the complete jurisdiction, not merely a partial jurisdiction such as that which applies to anyone temporarily sojourning in the United States (whether lawfully or unlawfully). Such was the view of those who authored the 14th Amendment's Citizenship Clause; of the Supreme Court of the United States in the 1872 Slaughter-House Cases and the 1884 case of Elk v. Wilkins; of Thomas Cooley, the leading constitutional treatise writer of the day; and of the State Department, which, in the 1880s, issued directives to U.S. embassies to that effect.

The Supreme Court's subsequent decision in Wong Kim Ark is not to the contrary. At issue there was a child born to Chinese immigrants who had become lawful, permanent residents in the United States—"domiciled" was the legally significant word used by the Court. But that was the extent of the Court's holding (as opposed to broader language that was dicta, and therefore not binding). Indeed, the Supreme Court has never held that anyone born on U.S. soil, no matter the circumstances of the parents, is automatically a U.S. citizen.

Granted, our government's view of the Constitution's citizenship mandate has morphed over the decades to what is now an absolute "birth on the soil no matter the circumstances" view—but that morphing does not appear to have begun until the late 1960s, after Kamala Harris' birth in 1964. The children born on U.S. soil to guest workers from Mexico during the Roaring 1920s were not viewed as citizens, for example, when, in the wake of the Great Depression, their families were repatriated to Mexico. Nor were the children born on U.S. soil to guest workers in the bracero program of the 1950s and early 1960s deemed citizens when that program ended, and their families emigrated back to their home countries.

So before we so cavalierly accept Senator Harris' eligibility for the office of vice president, we should ask her a few questions about the status of her parents at the time of her birth.

Were Harris' parents lawful permanent residents at the time of her birth? If so, then under the actual holding of Wong Kim Ark, she should be deemed a citizen at birth—that is, a natural-born citizen—and hence eligible. Or were they instead, as seems to be the case, merely temporary visitors, perhaps on student visas issued pursuant to Section 101(15)(F) of Title I of the 1952 Immigration Act? If the latter were indeed the case, then derivatively from her parents, Harris was not subject to the complete jurisdiction of the United States at birth, but instead owed her allegiance to a foreign power or powers—Jamaica, in the case of her father, and India, in the case of her mother—and was therefore not entitled to birthright citizenship under the 14th Amendment as originally understood.

Interestingly, this recitation of the original meaning of the 14th Amendment Citizenship Clause might also call into question Harris' eligibility for her current position as a United States senator. Article I, Section 3 of the Constitution specifies that to be eligible for the office of senator, one must have been "nine Years a Citizen of the United States." If Harris was not a citizen at birth, we would need to know when (if ever) she became a citizen. Her father's biographical page at Stanford University identifies his citizenship status as follows: "Jamaica (by birth); U.S. (by naturalization)." But there is some dispute over whether he was in fact ever naturalized, and it is also unclear whether Harris' mother ever became a naturalized citizen. If neither was ever naturalized, or at least not naturalized before Harris' 16th birthday (which would have allowed her to obtain citizenship derived from their naturalization under the immigration law, at the time), then she would have had to become naturalized herself in order to be a citizen. That does not appear to have ever happened, yet without it, she could not have been "nine Years a Citizen of the United States" before her election to the U.S. Senate.

I have no doubt that this significant challenge to Harris' constitutional eligibility to the second-highest office in the land will be dismissed out of hand as so much antiquated constitutional tripe. But the concerns about divided allegiance that led our nation's Founders to include the "natural-born citizen" requirement for the office of president and commander-in-chief remain important; indeed, with persistent threats from Russia, China and others to our sovereignty and electoral process, those concerns are perhaps even more important today. It would be an inauspicious start for any campaign for the highest offices in the land to ignore the Constitution's eligibility requirements; how else could we possibly expect the candidates, if elected, to honor their oaths to "faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and...to the best of [their] Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States?"

The dismissal fulfills the terms of a January 2025 settlement in which California dropped all charges against Daleiden and undercover reporter Sandra Merritt. The agreement required no jail time, no fines, no admission of wrongdoing and no probation.

The prosecution began under then-California Attorney General Kamala Harris after Daleiden’s 2015 videos were released. In the January 2025 statement marking the initial settlement, Daleiden described the case as political lawfare.

“After enduring 9 years of weaponized political prosecution, putting an end to the lawfare launched by Kamala Harris is a huge victory for my investigative reporting and for the public’s right to know the truth about Planned Parenthood’s sale of aborted baby body parts. Now we all must get to work to protect families and infants from the criminal abortion-industrial complex,” he said.

Defense attorney Steve Cooley, former Los Angeles County District Attorney, sharply criticized the long-running effort.

“In my 5 decades as an attorney, 40 years of which were as a prosecutor, I have never seen such a blatant exercise of selective investigation and vindictive prosecution. The California Attorneys General who initiated this case and pursued it for nearly 10 years should be ashamed for weaponizing their office to pursue people who were merely exposing illegality associated with the harvesting and sale of fetal body parts,” Cooley said.

Daleiden’s videos led to a $7.8 million settlement in which two companies admitted illegally selling aborted baby parts obtained from Planned Parenthood abortion centers in Southern California.

We let Tim Walz know of fraud early on, hoping for a partnership in stopping fraud but no, we got the opposite response. Tim Walz systematically retaliated against whistleblowers using monitoring, threats, repression, and did his best to discredit fraud reports. Instead of partnership, we got the full weight of retaliation by Tim Walz, certain DFL members and an indifferent mainstream media. It’s scary, isolating and left us wondering who we can turn to.

In addition to retaliating against whistleblower, Tim Walz disempowered the Office of the Legislative Auditor, allowing agencies to disregard their audit findings and guidance. Media and politicians supporting Tim Walz or the DFL-agenda attacked whistleblowers who were trying to raise red flags on fraudulent activities.

This is a cascade of systemic failures leading up to Tim Walz. Agency leaders appointed by Tim Walz willfully disregarded rules and laws to keep fraud reports quiet - even to the extent of threatening families of whistleblowers. These same leaders are not qualified for their jobs, instead getting leadership jobs via Tim Walz’s friendship so state government were left floundering. DFL lawmakers refused to acknowledge fraud and deflected any serious conversation to stop fraud. Biased mainstream media such as WCCO and MPR showed absolutely no interest in covering fraud happening in our own state. Programs, especially in behavioral health and disability services were built without any guardrails against fraud, all in an attempt to extract more funding from legislature and the federal government.

As staff, we firsthand witnessed and observed fraud happening yet we were shutdown, reassigned and told to keep quiet. Sometimes more. Leadership did not want to appear to discriminate against certain communities and were unwilling to take action, such as stopping fraud, that would have an adverse impact on their image. To date, no single agency leader has been held responsible for their role in fraud whether it’s Shireen Gandhi, Jess Geil, Jodi Harpstead, Natasha Merz, Eric Grumdahl or others.

It is a structure created and maintained by Tim Walz who has created an environment of inter-related agencies and institutions including the media - that help foster fraud through retaliation and turning a blind eye in exchange for political gain in the form of high power agency leadership jobs or other perks.

Fundamentally, Tim Walz is dishonest, lacks ethics and integrity, has poor leadership abilities, and has never taken any accountability for his role in fraud. Instead, Tim Walz deflects by blaming national politics for his own failings and distracts the public with inveterate lying. These lies include his reference of a budget surplus under his tenure. Fact is, Minnesota never had a surplus, we had been given federal ARPA funds that were conflated as surplus money otherwise, we’d be in a deficit. And those ARPA funds, which were meant to be temporary funds were used to create more leadership positions for Tim Walz “buddies.”

As such, we can’t fight fraud in Minnesota alone hence why we’re appealing to the federal levels of government. We need all the help we can get as Tim Walz’s agency leaders have upped their brazen approach in covering up their knowledge of fraud.

We are grateful to numerous solid politicians (esp the Fraud Committee) and media outlets who are trying to halt fraud. We are also grateful to other whistleblowers who are bravely stepping up.

Donald Trump books written by Beltway journalists have spent the year bombing, but Kamala Harris's memoir sold 350,000 copies in its first week and is on pace to be the top seller of 2025.

It is a safe guess that no one had Kamala Harris writes the top-selling political memoir of 2025 on their current event bingo card, but that is what is happening.

Carlos Lozada of The New York Times posted on X:

Simon & Schuster announces that the KamalaHarris memoir 107 DAYS has sold 350k copies in its first week. “These sales put 107 DAYS on a trajectory to be the best-selling memoir published in 2025,” the publisher announces.

In July, Politico reported on the poor sales of Trump books:

The latest example is “2024: How Trump Retook the White House and the Democrats Lost America,” by political journalists Josh Dawsey, Tyler Pager and Isaac Arnsdorf. “2024” sold roughly 6,000 hardcover copies in the first week of publication, according to data released last Wednesday from NPD BookScan. Yet even with that sales figure, it hit the New York Times bestseller list at No. 4. (The Times bestseller list does not disclose its data sources.)

This follows other second-term Trump books experiencing lackluster sales. “Trump in Exile,” by the Wall Street Journal’s Meridith McGraw, has sold roughly 2,000 copies since its release last August, according to BookScan. Axios’ Alex Isenstadt’s “Revenge: The Inside Story of Trump’s Return to Power,” published in March, has sold around 3,000 copies so far, according to BookScan. McGraw and Isenstadt declined to comment.

Jake Tapper’s Biden book, which was based on the conspiracy theory that Democrats hid Biden’s cognitive decline, shriveled up and died after it turned out that Biden has cancer, not a mental issue.

It is telling that a book that was supposed to be about Biden’s health and cover-up completely missed the fact that Biden had cancer.

Most Democrats believe that Kamala Harris got a bad deal in 2024. She was put in an impossible position. She attempted to lead a campaign for a party plagued by chaos and dysfunction, which was a self-inflicted wound caused by the media and party elites.

There is considerable goodwill surrounding Kamala Harris. That doesn’t necessarily mean that most Democrats want to see her run for president again. There is a real yearning for a new generation and a fresh face.

The era of public interest in Donald Trump is over. The current president is no longer a moneymaker for the mainstream media, which means that many of them sold out the country in the hope of riches that will never come.

Kamala Harris is starting her book tour, and naturally, she ran right to the friendly territory at MSNBC with Rachel Maddow.

But it wasn’t an entirely smooth interview.

As you know, excerpts from Harris's campaign memoir, 107 Days, have been trickling out over the past few weeks. Maddow raised one of the most controversial revelations, where Kamala admitted that she passed over Pete Buttigieg as a potential running mate in 2024 because he’s gay:

We were already asking a lot of America: to accept a woman, a Black woman, a Black woman married to a Jewish man. Part of me wanted to say, Screw it, let's just do it. But knowing what was at stake, it was too big of a risk. And I think Pete also knew that -- to our mutual sadness.

Maddow broached the subject gently but directly. “With you running as, you know, you’re the first woman elected vice president, you’re a black woman and a South Asian woman, uh, elected to that high office, very nearly elected president,” Maddow began, though “very nearly elected” is a point that could easily be disputed. “To say that he couldn’t be on the ticket effectively because he was gay is hard to hear,” said the lesbian host.

If you thought Kamala would be prepared for such an accusation, you were wrong. She was clearly taken aback.

“No, no, no,” she insisted. “That’s not what I said, that that’s, that he couldn’t be on the ticket because he is gay.”

The problem for Kamala, of course, is that this is exactly how it came across in her own book. And after denying that she ever suggested such a thing, she immediately launched into an explanation that essentially confirmed it.

“My point in, as I write in the book, is that I was clear that in 107 days, in one of the most hotly contested elections for president of the United States, against someone like Donald Trump, who knows no floor … to be a black woman running for president of the United States and, as a vice presidential running mate, a gay man, with the stakes being so high, it made me very sad. But I, I also realized, it would be a real risk.”

Shall we do a recap? In the span of a few minutes, Harris denied she passed on Buttigieg for being gay, then explained at length how she passed on Buttigieg for being gay.

Classic Kamala.

Naturally, she then tried to frame the decision as painful but pragmatic. “No matter how, you know I’ve been an advocate and an ally of, of the LGBT community my entire life,” she said.

Maddow responded, “Oh, to say the least.”

“So it wasn’t about, it wasn’t about — yeah, right,” Harris continued. “So it wasn’t about any, any prejudice on my part. But we had such a short—”

“It’s that calculation, though,” Maddow cut in.

“…We had such a short period of time,” Kamala continued. “And the stakes were so high.”

he contradiction in her defense was glaring. She didn't want people to see her as prejudiced, but her reasoning focused on the public's perception of Buttigieg's sexuality. She claimed she had to choose between loyalty to the LGBT movement and the cold political calculus of beating Donald Trump.

So, obviously, she chose Tim Walz as her running mate. ¯\_(?)_/¯

Trashing Buttigieg’s dismal record as Transportation Secretary would have been an easier angle to sell to the left.

This trainwreck of an interview perfectly encapsulates everything wrong with Kamala Harris. She can’t even keep her own lies straight for five minutes. If she can’t handle softball questions from her biggest media ally about her own book, how exactly was she supposed to handle Putin or Xi Jinping?

New memos expose Homeland Security’s concerns about Tim Walz CCP connections

Newly released internal memos confirm the Department of Homeland Security and FBI had longstanding concerns about Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz and his connections to the Chinese Communist Party, especially after he was selected by Vice President Kamala Harris as her presidential running mate last year.

Homeland Security turned over the documents to watchdog group Judicial Watch, which had filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request and sued the government earlier this year, seeking communications in an agency group chat that allegedly referenced the probe into Walz. The existence of those messages was shared with the House Oversight Committee last year by whistleblowers, but the Biden-era DHS resisted turning over responsive documents.

“China is happy,” one Homeland Security employee wrote in an explosive message to the group chat called “NST NFT Bi-Weekly Sync” on August 7, 2024, one day after Harris announced Walz as her running mate, the memos show. The employee linked a BBC News article detailing Chinese internet reactions to the choice, which were reported as largely positive.

In response, another employee, whose name is also redacted, suggested looping in the FBI due to its responsibility for domestic counterintelligence, the messages show.

“[W]ith FBI mission in the CI field i [sic] believe they need to get included,” the employee wrote.

The documents provide the clearest evidence yet of the alarm bells sounding in U.S. government counterintelligence circles about the Minnesota governor’s selection to be Harris’s running mate. Those concerns stemmed from Walz’s longstanding ties to China and favorable interactions with its governing Communist Party dating back years.

Kamala Harris might beat Donald Trump in the popular vote if the 2024 presidential election was held today, a new poll suggests.

The Strength In Numbers/Verasight poll, conducted May 1 to 6, found 47 percent of respondents who would vote in a hypothetical do-over backed Democrat Harris, compared to 42 percent for Republican Trump.

Including those who would not vote, Harris' share of the vote dropped to 40 percent against Trump's 36 percent.

The poll was conducted among 1,000 adults and had a margin of error of 3.2 percent.

Trump beat Harris by 2 points in the popular vote in November 2024's election, with 50 percent to her 48 percent. He won the electoral vote, which decides the winner, by a resounding 312 to 226.

Several polls before the election had either a tie or Harris on top in the popular vote.

In the hypothetical rematch, Harrisheld a significant advantage among those who say they did not vote in 2024.

Among these, 36 percent of respondents backed Harris and 22 percent voting for Trump. Forty-three percent of non-voters surveyed said they still would not vote in 2024.

Limiting to those who voted, Trump's support is lower than the real 2024 result at a 43-43 tie.

Why It Matters

Despite her loss in the 2024 presidential race, Harris is viewed as a top contender for the 2028 election, which will likely see a crowded field of Democrats vying for the party's nomination. Harris hasn't said for sure she plans to run, and she is also speculated to be considering a run for California's governorship in 2026.

Abigail Marsh, a psychology and neuroscience professor at Georgetown University, explains how the world is impacted by those with psychopathy, and, additionally, those who practice extreme altruism.

Psychopathy, she says, is a neurodevelopmental disorder affecting a small percentage of people, who are different from a very early age due to their unique brain development. Conversely, she talks about people who are exceptionally altruistic—those who go out of their way to help others, often at great personal risk. These individuals are humble, believe in the goodness of others, and are highly empathetic.

She concludes by explaining that acts of generosity have been increasing on a global scale, and how these trends have proven that it is possible for individuals to change their own natural levels of altruism. Through awareness and action, we can build a more caring and helpful society for ourselves and generations to come.
