Kudos for keeping this contest going. 2023 shapes up to be another tough slugging in the junior dirt digging game. Green on your spreadsheet is a rare colour.

I probably shouldn’t even take part in this contest as I stopped a while ago paying attention to this group of companies but since still have an interest in a junior producer, I will once again pick it: KRR.T

KRR is unlikely to win the 2024 contest but it should do reasonably well given their track record and the major mine development milestones they are going to hit in 2024. A low risk bet on gold and nickel. If it wasn’t for management greed, KRR would be an easy double in 2024.

Gold was unchanged on the year and silver up 3.73%. Of the stats at the bottom of the spreadsheet, the only one in the green was SLV, the silver ETF, up 2.37%. Stocks under-performed the metals.

I'll double check the merger details for the second to last entry. From the news release it states:

As part of the acquisition, Hecla issued 17,992,875million shares of its common stock to Alexco shareholders for a total consideration of approximately $69million based on a share exchange ratio of0.116 of a Hecla share for each Alexco common share. Concurrent with the acquisition, the silver streaming interest at Alexco’s Keno Hill property held by Wheaton Precious Metals Corp was terminated in exchange for US$135 million of Hecla common stock, in the form of 34,800,989 million shares of Hecla common stock based on the 5-day VWAP of $3.88per share. As part of the transaction, Hecla provided Alexco with a US$30 million secured loan facility, of which US$25 million was drawn when the transaction closed.

When I discovered you had already claimed my pick MAI, I decided instead to go for TVC, which I said would result in me with me finishing either first or last.

Alas, last it will be, as they announced today they are shutting down their mine and are almost certainly going to go bankrupt. Fortunately, I can console myself with all the real gains I am making from my large holding of MAI shares.
