PERIMETER MEDICAL IMAGING AI'S 'CLAIRE' BECOMES FIRST FDA-APPROVED AI-ENABLED IMAGING DEVICE FOR BREAST CANCER SURGERY

Perimeter Medical Imaging AI Inc. has received U.S. Food and Drug Administration premarket approval for Claire (formerly the Perimeter OCT B-Series with ImgAssist AI 2.0), the first artificial-intelligence-enabled imaging device approved in the United States for intraoperative breast cancer margin assessment. The technology received breakthrough device designation from the FDA and is designed to enhance surgeons' ability to detect difficult-to-see cancer during breast-conserving surgery and potentially reduce the need for reoperations.

"Repeat breast cancer surgeries due to residual disease remain a significant clinical, health and economic burden," said Perimeter chief executive officer Adrian Mendes. "Claire's FDA approval marks a major milestone in breast cancer care as we advance our goal of reducing repeat surgeries so that no patient has to be told, 'We didn't get it all.' We plan to begin a nationwide launch in the coming weeks so that surgeons can rapidly adopt the industry's first FDA-approved real-time AI-powered imaging technology for breast cancer surgery."

Innovating the standard of care

Claire combines Perimeter's proprietary AI with its patented wide-field OCT imaging to enable high-resolution, real-time evaluation of excised tumour margins. The system delivers 10 times higher resolution than standard X-ray and ultrasound at two-millimetre imaging depth -- the clinically relevant margin width for breast cancer margin assessment. Claire's innovative AI technology was trained on Perimeter's proprietary and growing OCT image library of over two million breast tissue images.

Today, surgeons use a combination of physical examination and, in limited cases, intraoperative pathology to assess margins before sending specimens to pathology for final evaluation. As a result, patients may wait up to a week or more to learn whether margins are clear or additional surgery is required. Claire is designed to identify areas of concern during surgery, helping surgeons determine whether to remove more tissue before completing the procedure. Today, national averages indicate repeat surgeries occur in about 20 per cent of breast-conserving surgeries in the United States.

"Despite progress in breast cancer treatment, intraoperative margin assessment remains challenging, often leading to excess removal of healthy tissue, reoperations and anxiety for patients as they await pathology results," said Dr. Alastair Thompson, surgeon and professor, section chief of breast surgery, Olga Keith Wiess chair of surgery at Baylor College of Medicine, breast cancer program leader at the Dan L. Duncan Comprehensive Cancer Center, and the primary principal investigator of the pivotal trial that supported Claire's PMA application. "Claire has the potential to become a new standard in breast surgical care, helping reduce re-excisions while improving patient outcomes."

Claire's trial demonstrated statistically significant improvement

The pivotal trial of Claire demonstrated an 88.1-per-cent margin accuracy and a statistically significant reduction in patients with residual cancer postsurgery compared with the standard of care alone. As presented by Dr. Thompson at the 26th annual meeting of the American Society of Breast Surgeons, these results demonstrated supersuperiority (lower bound of confidence interval for treatment effect greater than a predetermined minimal clinically meaningful difference) of its ability to aid surgeons in achieving clear surgical margins. This large-scale pivotal clinical trial would not have been possible without the generous grant of $7.4-million (U.S.) from the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas.

A critical innovation behind Claire is its AI engine, trained on millions of proprietary OCT images of cancerous and healthy tissue. This image library can only be generated using Perimeter's patented OCT imaging engine and represents a unique advantage, as every surgical procedure performed with Claire generates new data that can be used to improve the AI product, helping to create better outcomes for future patients. Claire has been designed and developed on a diverse data set spanning a multitude of patient characteristics to help surgeons assess areas of interest during surgery. This use of AI is what makes Claire one of the few AI-enabled Class 3 devices on the U.S. market today. A predetermined change control plan was authorized as part of the PMA approval and includes planned AI enhancements that can be implemented without additional FDA interaction.

"This approval reflects years of hard work with our clinical partners, integrating AI directly into surgical decision making and advancing its role from operational support to real-time patient care."

Platform opportunity

Claire's FDA approval positions Perimeter at the forefront of AI-enabled intraoperative imaging and marks the first commercialization of its proprietary OCT-AI platform. The company's patented wide-field OCT technology, proprietary data set and integrated AI capabilities target an estimated 300,000 annual U.S. breast cancer surgeries while providing a scalable foundation for expansion into additional cancer indications over time.

Moving forward, the Musqueam Indian Band will receive a share of the Government of Canada’s annual revenues generated by Vancouver International Airport (YVR).

A new revenue-sharing agreement was signed today between officials of the federal government and the leadership of the First Nation.

Each year, Vancouver Airport Authority pays the federal government a ground lease for its operations on Sea Island, which is a federally-owned property.

Based on a 1992 agreement, when the federal government transitioned Canada’s major airports to a locally-operated model based on long-term leases, YVR’s ground lease payment each year is determined by a progressive scale of percentages of the airport authority’s overall revenue.

In pre-pandemic 2019, Vancouver Airport Authority’s ground lease to the federal government was $60.3 million. Based on the airport authority’s most recent audited financial statements, its ground lease was $50.8 million in 2022 and $69.1 million in 2023, with ongoing annual payments for deferred ground lease amounts from early on in the pandemic.

Through this new agreement, the First Nation will benefit financially from YVR’s revenues, with the federal government now allocating a percentage of the annual ground lease revenues it receives from the airport authority to the Musqueam Indian Band. The exact percentage was not immediately disclosed, but it follows lengthy negotiations.

This also builds on Vancouver Airport Authority’s 2017-signed, 30-year reconciliation partnership with the Musqueam Indian Band, which already provides one per cent of YVR’s non-aeronautical revenues to the First Nation, along with education and job opportunities for the First Nation’s members and cultural and archeological protection resources. In the first year of this previous agreement, this First Nation received over $5 million directly from Vancouver Airport Authority.

Following today’s agreement signing, Musqueam Indian Band will benefit from two YVR-related revenue streams.

“Today marks an important step forward in our partnership with Musqueam. The Revenue Sharing Agreement reflects our shared commitment to honouring their vision for self-determination,” said Gary Anandasangaree, the federal Minister of Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs, in a statement today.

“Revenue sharing is a tangible way to implement the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples and support Musqueam’s vision for a strong, sustainable future. We will continue working together to uphold rights, strengthen self-government, and build lasting prosperity for generations to come.”

Musqueam Chief Wayne Sparrow added, “By signing this landmark agreement, Musqueam and the Crown are taking a significant step towards a renewed relationship that recognizes our unique relationship to our territory. Musqueam acknowledges the federal ministers and negotiators who worked hard on behalf of Canada to successfully conclude this phase of negotiations.”

“This incremental measure will undoubtedly provide significant and real benefits to our community over the years to come,” continued Sparrow.

In November 2024, Tamara Vrooman, the president and CEO of the Vancouver Airport Authority, announced the airport authority’s financial performance was now very strong and had fully recovered from the pandemic. She shared that 2023 was the highest year on record for the airport authority’s revenue and that YVR now has the highest credit rating of any airport in Canada.

The airport authority’s operating revenue reached $631.6 million in 2023, representing a surplus of over $75 million from its expenses of more than $556 million. In 2022, its operating revenues were $492 million, producing a surplus of $9.5 million.

This is reflected by YVR’s strong post-pandemic recovery in passenger and air cargo volumes.

YVR recorded a total of 24.9 million passengers in 2023, and it saw 26.2 million passengers in 2024, marking the airport’s second-highest year ever for passenger volumes — just shy of breaking the all-time record of over 26.3 million in 2024.

On March 2, 2026, the Honourable Tim Hodgson, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, joined industry and international partners to announce the second round of partnerships and investments under the Critical Minerals Production Alliance. The Alliance mobilizes capital, international cooperation and policy coordination to advance priority projects and get more minerals from reliable, trusted allies to markets.

This second round of 30 new partnerships and investments will unlock $12.1 billion in critical minerals projects with 12 allied partners. Combined with the investments and partnerships announced in October 2025, the Critical Minerals Production Alliance is now helping to mobilize $18.5 billion in Canadian critical minerals projects. These projects will strengthen supply chains, support economic growth and reduce strategic vulnerabilities.

The announced strategic partnerships and investments include:

Regen Resources Recovery Corporation’s flagship brownfield-revitalized synthetic graphite project in Welland, Ontario, with a strategic alliance with Linamar. Ontario’s Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks is working to expedite and streamline required approvals for this project where possible while maintaining strong environmental oversight.
Regeneration’s metal extraction and site restoration project in Hedley, British Columbia, with a commitment to work toward an investment of up to $15 million from Pacific Economic Development Canada (PacifiCan) and with offtake agreements and corporate partnerships with Apple (United States) and the fine-jewelry company, Mejuri (Canada). This project has strong alignment with local First Nations’ environmental stewardship and economic development objectives.
Frontier Lithium’s lithium processing facility, based in Thunder Bay, Ontario,with a conditionally approved investment of $2.3 million through NRCan’s Global Partnerships Initiative to develop treatment options to support the valorization of its by-products. Frontier Lithium also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Panasonic Energy (Japan) for future lithium offtake from the refinery in support of developing a secure, localized North American battery supply chain. Frontier Lithium’s PAK Lithium project was the first to move forward under Ontario’s “One Project, One Process” framework.
Rock Tech Lithium’s Red Rock Converter Project in Ontario, supported by a strategic partnership and technology collaboration under a Memorandum of Understanding with Siemens Canada, advances Canada’s ability to build secure, domestic lithium conversion infrastructure.
Greenland Resources’ Malmbjerg Project in Greenland, with a conditionally approved investment of up to $7 million through NRCan’s Critical Minerals Research, Development and Demonstration program and a binding US$2 billion 10-year offtake agreement with Outokumpu (Finland). Cyclic Materials Inc.’s rare earth elements recycling Centre of Excellence in Kingston, Ontario, with a conditionally approved investment of up to $9.1 million through NRCan’s Global Partnerships Initiative. This week, during Prime Minister Carney’s bilateral visit to India, Canada and India signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Critical Minerals Collaboration, aiming to enhance trade and investment and support exchanges of policies, regulations, best practices and ESG standards.
Canada and the European Union signed a Joint Declaration on Critical Minerals Collaboration, aiming to strengthen co-operation and multilateralism in support of secure supply chains, bilateral investment and trade, industrial competitiveness and sustainable growth.
The European Investment Bank signed a Letter of Intent to negotiate an agreement with Canada that will pave the way toward co-operation on projects in Canada and abroad.

Minister Hodgson also highlighted up to $64.8 million for research and development projects with international partners as well as $10 million to support developing countries in benefiting from the global energy and digital transition. MacLean Engineering, based in Collingwood, Ontario, with an investment of $2.5 million through NRCan’s Energy Innovation Program’s Mining Decarbonization Demonstration Call, to support the design and development of the MacLean GR8 EV Graders for mining operations in Canada and the broader mining industry, commencing with Fortescue in Western Australia. Scandium Canada’s Crater Lake Project in Nunavik, Quebec, with a funding agreement of up to $6.9 million through NRCan’s Global Partnerships Initiative. Canada is clearly now a client state of China and a threat to US national security. For example, much of US uranium requirements come from Canada as do 4.5 million b/d of oil, both of which are critical to the US economy. Canada already stated they will allow China to buy up Canadian resource assets. The threat is that critical resources could then be diverted, denying uranium and oil to the USA. It will be interesting to see where the red line is for Washington before something is done.

Vancouver, British Columbia--(Newsfile Corp. - February 10, 2026) - Spark Energy Minerals Inc. (CSE: SPRK) (OTC Pink: SPARF) (FSE: 8PC) ("Spark" or the "Company") is pleased to report strong drill results from its maiden Reverse Circulation ("RC") program at the Arapaima Project in Padre Paraíso, northern Minas Gerais State, Brazil, highlighting thick, near-surface rare earth and gallium mineralization.

Final laboratory assays confirm extensive, continuous rare earth element ("REE") and gallium ("Ga") mineralization from surface, with grades and continuity consistent with an ionic-adsorption clay ("IAC")-style system. IAC-style deposits are globally recognized as a critical source of heavy rare earths used in permanent magnets and advanced technologies.

These results are based on final assays from the first three drill holes completed as part of Spark's maiden five-hole Reverse Circulation ("RC") drill program at the Arapaima Project. Assays from the remaining two drill holes are pending and will be reported once received.

Exploration Results and Geological Interpretation

Assay results from the first three RC drill holes completed at the Arapaima Project confirm the discovery of thick, high-grade REE and gallium mineralization hosted within clay-rich weathering profiles. The consistent distribution of REEs, combined with the clay-hosted nature of the mineralization, supports the interpretation of an ionic-adsorption clay ("IAC")-style system, a recognized source of heavy rare earth elements.

All three maiden drill holes intersected broad, continuous intervals of REE mineralization, highlighting the continuity and thickness of the mineralized system. Notably, Hole ARA-RC003 returned 78 m of continuous mineralization grading 2,430 ppm TREO, including multiple high-grade internal intervals with grades reaching 6,682 ppm TREO, demonstrating both notable thickness and internal grade enrichment.

The mineralization is further distinguished by a high proportion of magnet rare earth oxides ("MREO"), reaching up to 33% of the total rare earth basket, underscoring the presence of the rare earth elements used in permanent magnet technologies. MREO is defined as the combined oxides of neodymium (Nd), praseodymium (Pr), dysprosium (Dy), and terbium (Tb).

In addition to REE mineralization, gallium mineralization was intersected in all three drill holes, with thick, near-surface intervals. The longest gallium intercept returned 94 m grading 63 g/t Ga2O3 from surface, including individual samples grading up to 84 g/t Ga2O3, highlighting the emergence of a multi-commodity critical-minerals system at Arapaima.

The maiden RC drill program comprised five vertical reverse circulation drill holes (dip 90°). Drill hole collar locations, depths, azimuths, and sample interval information are summarized below:

Regional Setting and Land Position

The Arapaima Project is located in the Padre Paraíso region of northern Minas Gerais State, within Brazil's Lithium Valley, a recognized district for lithium and critical minerals. This region has gained international recognition as a prospective corridor for critical minerals, supported by favourable geology, established infrastructure, and a mining-friendly regulatory environment.

Spark controls one of the largest and most contiguous land positions in the district, exceeding 91,000 hectares, providing substantial upside potential to expand the mineralized footprint well beyond the initial drill areas tested to date.

Project Pipeline and Exploration Upside

In addition to the REE-gallium discovery at Arapaima, Spark has identified four drill-ready lithium-bearing pegmatite targets within its broader land package. These targets have been prioritized for follow-up diamond drilling as part of a staged, district-scale exploration strategy.

The Company is actively evaluating strategic and non-dilutive financing alternatives to accelerate advancement of both the REE-Ga discovery and its lithium exploration pipeline, with the objective of rapidly building on the momentum generated by the Company's maiden drill program.

Qualified Person Statement (NI 43-101)

The planning and execution of the QA/QC program for the borehole samples from the Arapaima drilling program included placing a blank at the beginning of each batch (each batch corresponds to one borehole), before analysis of the first sample.

Two standard samples were inserted every 15 samples, and a duplicate was taken every 20 samples. The specifications for the standard samples are attached. The samples were collected at 2m intervals, and using a Jones splitter, the samples were reduced to an aliquot of approximately 2kg for laboratory analysis and another of approximately 1kg for project archiving.

Analytical Procedures & Laboratory

The samples were sent to the SGS Geosol Ltda laboratory, located on the MG-10 highway at km 24.5 in the Angicos neighbourhood, Vespasiano/MG. The laboratory is independent and has no relationship with the project or the company. The SGS Geosol laboratory is ISO 14001-2015 certified (certified on 11/09/2023) and ISO 9001-2015 certified (certified on 10/07/2024).

Samples were prepared by crushing 75% 3 mm/pulverizing 250 g, 95% <150# - Jones (code PRP70J_A2-PA).

Analyses were performed using ICPMS/OES by fusion with sodium peroxide for 56 elements, including lithium and the rare earth elements (code ICM90A).

MREO: Defined as the combined oxides of Nd + Pr + Dy + Tb. "% of TREO" represents MREO divided by TREO × 100.

TREO (Total Rare Earth Oxides): Defined as the sum of the following oxides: CeO2, Dy2O3, Er2O3, Eu2O3, Gd2O3, Ho2O3, La2O3, Lu2O3, Nd2O3, Pr6O11, Sm2O3, Tb4O7, Tm2O3, Yb2O3.
