I searched the SI database for poetry, and found some references to the word, some stock market ditties, but much to my surprise, perhaps due to my poor searching skills, no place for posting poems. I've been lurking in the Coffee Shop for some little time now, and I've noted some interesting writings. I've decided to take something of a chance with my ego here, and post six of my original poems with the hope of stimulating dialogue, soliciting feedback, and encouraging others to join me.

SI - A Poetry Corner

[SI Ron (Crazy Music Man)] LOL thats funny.

[Glenn Petersen] [graphic]

[Sun Tzu] Neither is a cure Nor the strength to endure Emptied bottles keep me compan...

Neither is a cure
48

I've got to tell them, they won't believe it anyway.

49

The Martians can hurt one another with words. Physically.

50

They are ever so cerebral. and so very quick. They are very much the cat's [ insert distant planet ] meow.

51

I really doubt that.

52

No, it will be many, many moons before we play that game.

53

Besides its kind of alien and people here hate all of ya'll. Everyone of you. :)

54

Isn't that sad for your people?. :)

55

We call it a bummer. Bummers are huge here btw.

56

Anyway, thanks for not poisoning me or pulling out the paranormal jazz this evening or sending one of your star ship ( fairly robotic really ) troopers to secure my dwelling while completely ignoring me.

57

Most of that paranormal junk is super dumb.

58

Ghosts?

59

Who really has time to stick around and wait for them to do ANYTHING?

60

There they are...stand back, OMG. :)

61

Your trooper really was interesting. Still not certain it actually happened. A very, very puzzling event. The recall is there but something's missing. I don't know what. It remains quite dream like but then that isn't at all unusual when splitting consciousness and in your field.

62

You really do have only two methods of transferring thought.

63

3D reality or dreamy, dreamy, dreamy. Maybe there's more. Do you see anyone that cares in the least? :)

64

Do you?

65

Don't worry time is on your side. I see both you and Marvin the Martian in some kind of winners outfits.

66

Something really cool.

67

Very special for all you very foreign ones.

68

Get this.

69

This goof ball would like our wonderful audience to know of my singular contribution to their very wordy world.

70

Visually friendly.

71

That brought the astral house down over those two words. I swear to God.

72

Yappin' amongst each other yada, yada...Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

73

It was pretty funny. You'd think they could come up with that wouldn't ya?

74

I do. Actually makes them look a wee bit spaced out and probably far more dense than we really know.

75

If anyone makes the mistake of believing a word of this remember; we're in this together and we always have been.

76

And it gets worse. :)

77

They really do have a decent sense of humor though. Nothing special at all. :) Certainly not altogether retarded. Just different.

78

That's right, retarded. I said retarded go back to bed sissy.

79

Personally, I think they're a little too needy but then look at them. Not exactly something you'd take home to Mom.

80

Wow, its late, time to knock off the drugs.

81

Please wonder and hopefully some really crazy ones might learn something/anything or not at all.

Posted by Judea Pearl
February 22, 2012

Note: A couple of weeks ago, I spent some time in Los Angeles with the parents of Daniel Pearl, a brilliant and courageous reporter for the Wall Street Journal who, ten years ago this month, was kidnapped and slaughtered by terrorists in Pakistan. At the time of his death, Danny’s wife, Mariane, was pregnant with their son. In the videotape that the terrorists forced Danny to make before they killed him, he spoke bravely and plainly of his identity, “My father is Jewish, my mother is Jewish, I am Jewish.”

Since that unspeakable day, the Pearl family members, each in their own way, have kept the memory of Danny alive in many ways—in books, lectures, scholarships, a foundation. The other day, Judea Pearl, Danny’s father, sent me a poem that he had written not long ago… —David Remnick

The Lions’ Den

To Daniel Pearl on the Anniversary of His Death
by Judea Pearl

Come walk the road to lions’ den
South of midnight, planet earth, Karachi, Pakistan.
Some called it “nursery,” some named it “shed,”
A “compound,” “shack,” the newspapers said.

I found it in my father’s holy book,
“The lions’ den,” the caption read.

Come touch the walls on which two eyes
with thousand dreams wrote songs
and fiercest battles, ancient wars,
for seven days, went on.

Never in the field of human conflict
Has there been a clash so total
so intense in charge and aim
Between two cosmic forces
so compressed in space

So opposed in vision
so rooted in conviction
Across so close a distance
Before so many eyes.

•

Never stood a son of Abel
so fiercely to the face of Cain
A giver—to the teeth of claim,
A curious—to the blinds of self.
A listener—to the deafening shrieks of zeal.

Alone!

Never beamed a ray of light
so deeply to the core of darkness
Music, to estrangement,
Principles, to whims
Reason, to the impulse
Mankind, to Attila, the Hun

Never was this saga chanted
in so powerful a rhyme:
“My name is Daniel Pearl,”
Softly spoken from the den,
Softly, from Karachi, Pakistan

•

And when Daniel was lifted from the den,
So the Bible tells us,
No wound was found on him,
Because he stood his ground
Because he stood our ground
So the Bible tells us.
(Daniel 6:28)

newyorker.com

[Giordano Bruno] Because the world is round it turns me on ...

Because the world is round it turns me on
Because the world is round...

[Giordano Bruno] Wednesday’s Circles Wednesday moves in quiet circles Catches your breath,...

Wednesday’s Circles

Wednesday moves in quiet circles

Catches your breath, holds you so close

You long to breath within Wednesday’s circles

As you leave your lover for the coast

Upon arriving, time may shift completely

Eleven or twelve, hard to tell even so

Does it ever even really matter where the hands of time land or where time may go?

Love can be awful, heartbreak and lonely

Love sometimes fades after much repair

Still no one can count out love’s resurrection

As Time plays her role and the moon simply stares

So children please enjoy one another

Your fathers and mothers attracted their fair share

If love is fleeting in books forever

Then love is still constant, love can’t help but care

[ tis published in a give us your money and we'll publish it real good ] :)
