I agree. Even spares kept in the trunk and out of UV light will age out. I was told the spare in my T-Bird was like a tiny bomb sitting in the 20 year old car. Never used, but never designed to be inflated and sitting for two decades, either.

The whitewalls on my '33 were hard as rocks after many many heat cycles at 'track days' at Road America. Yes, there's a difference between "looking good" and being safe!

I think 16 year-old tires are pretty dangerous. Here is a "brand new" never used spare I had on my Isuzu Rodeo and put it on to use when a tire went flat. It exploded on the freeway and luckily did not cause a crash. It was 17 years old, Now I try to never go past 10 years, and even that is risky according to Discount Tire.

Am unsure he's ever sold anything, and believe he keeps every car in running condition owning several warehouses in Burbank, CA, employing a full crew of mechanics.

The story goes he's never lived lavishly and even during and after hosting the Tonight Show he always worked on the side doing standup comedy gigs or other types of corporate events. So he always had resources to fund his automotive passion. Would guess he has to have one of the greatest single car collections considering its depth and essentially all of automotive history is covered. One interesting bit of trivia though, he's never owned a Ferrari. He likes their cars but a long time ago walked into a dealership and didn't like how he was treated as a potential customer giving up the idea. Remove the spaces between the two terms below when pasting.

My moms Birthday. I made this for her, from two images, one of my dad in the early 20s, an auto bodyman. Married to my mom. And me fixing / filing a door of some sort. This is 60 years ago. With AI, Photoshop I brought them together, made sure the faces were the same. AI is bad for messing up faces, so you have to do them manually with Photoshop, same as the ring had to be manually added. The file color is wrong, it should be wood. Took 5 hours.

Back in January, Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., proposed legislation to repeal a Biden-era regulation that will require all auto manufacturers to put kill switches in their new cars, as well as software to determine if a driver is impaired. It failed, with 57 Republicans opposing it.

Today, Rep. Chip Roy, R-Texas, is leading a battle to kill the kill switch as part of the new FISA legislation, but his effort isn’t looking good, either.
