I frequently find that many people are so influenced by the headlines that they approach the real content of an article from a biased perspective. The headline really shapes one's opinion of what a story says.

In my experience with media relations, it doesn't matter how much time you spend with a reporter to make sure the facts are right, or to try to get a favorable slant to a story. The reporter doesn't write the headline, the editor does based upon the newspaper's political/social/economic objectives. Can't tell you how many times I see headlines that say the exact opposite of the content of an article.
