Bring snow chains for the trip over Snoqualmie Pass this time of the year.

I would also visit Leavenworth, it's gorgeous this time of year.

That "Denver to Lincoln" is very boring. "Miles and miles of miles and miles." So is Sioux Falls to Billings.

You are going to freeze your butt off!

Have a good trip Geoff, and be VERY careful on the terrible roads! Especially in the midwest after the storms leave this area, they usually head East. Right now, the temp is in the teens....we are due Saturday for High winds of 40-60 mph, depending on where we are in the Seattle and regional area. That probably means power outages, and combined with another snowstorm that is due tomorrow night, with low temps through Christmas Eve, it doesn't bode well....

As I recall, Billings has only one 3 star hotel. That means you can try for a lowball price through Priceline, and you'll know exactly what you are getting. Long drive, but... have fun!
