Oh, and let's not forget Mondo Duplantis. He was born in the US, went to school here, his father was a well-known US pole vaulter... but he has been allowed to compete for Sweden because his mother is Swedish. He's always said he would, so, hey, I guess he's following his dream for his mother. After Mondo jumped 19'1" at the NB indoor nationals in 2017, both a world indoor age record and a half inch higher than his father's PR, I asked him which of those two was more satisfying. He said without hesitation it was beating his father's best jump lol. Really nice kid. - Jeff
