According to their website, Walter Payton Power Equipment was founded by Sweetness. I suspect that he did not ,run the company on a day-to-day basis.

A bit OT, but I have a friend who at one time was the Chief Financial Officer for Sayers Computer, which was founded by Gale Sayers. Gale actually ran the company day-to-day until he took in a partner. My friend was dating the Warehouse Manager. Dating fellow employees was frowned upon and when the Sayers Computer Christmas party rolled around I was invited as my friend's date (see my book, "My Life as a Beard"). The upshot was that I sat right next to Gale Sayers and spent the better part of an hour an a half talking to him (Football God to mere mortal). A very gracious man. A great guy, an interesting evening. No kiss at the end, unfortunately. My friend's boyfriend was a bit cool the next time I saw him.

I am not familiar with Manitex. I spent some time reviewing their SEC filings. The business is very cyclical. Boom or bust. They took a bit of a hit with their accounting "problem" in early November. It didn't sound too serious.
