I've used an Arris SB8200 for several years and have been very happy with it.

You'll have to call Cox after you've set it up to give them the MAC address on it so they can add it to your account.

You also might have to clone the MAC address in your router settings to allow the Arris to work, but that varies with each router model. Try that if you can't get it to work after contacting Cox about the MAC address.

Before you do the change up read the Cox website about activating your own modem.
