From a bigger picture it looks as though DELL has been consolidating for about 6 months now, similar to what it did at the end of 1997.
The start of 1998 was met with a DELL explosion. The start of 1997 was met with a DELL explosion. The explosion in 1996 occurred later in the year, but also after a basing period of about 6 months.
Each period of rapid growth occured when the 50dma moved close to our touched the 200dma exactly as is happening how.
If the history repeats we would see a move up to 200 (wow!) over the first six months of 1999. I can live with that.
