I spent a weekend at a hotel near Mono Lake without power, in the middle of winter (when the snow was about 4 feet deep on the ground)- because my husband's professor got a "deal" since the power had been knocked out. It was horrible- and we were actually prepared for snow camping. I shivered the entire night- even though i was sleeping in all my clothes. And, since we were prepared for camping, we had no worries about water, or food. Plus we could leave any time we wanted to. I am deeply sympathetic about what you went through. But glad it did not last longer. So glad.
