Davis has stayed in the House because of his working with both the Democrats and Republicans in his District. This was how he was elected previously------moving from local politics to the House of Representatives.

Davis's district is a part of the 'inside the beltway' Northern Virginia area that has been a Democrat stronghold for the past 20 years.

This should be a benefit in a Senate campaign in bringing in the Northern Virginia vote.

On the other hand, it may not be a benefit as the Democrats may likely want one of their own to take the Senate Seat and that will likely be Mark Warner.

Other possible candidates are Former Governors, Jim Gilmore and George Allen------Gilmore, Allen and Warner are all considered to have been fairly good Governors by Virginians.
