I don't really care too much about the election coverage; I care a lot more about the inconsistent state election rules and processes.

I think it would be much easier and palatable to require that electoral college votes are apportioned according to the popular vote in a state.

The specter of Kerry winning the presidency, if 100K votes swung in Ohio, and losing the popular vote by 3% would have been much worse than what happened in 2000.
