Just a thought Bill. Perhaps civil unions should be open to all in order to get benefits of partnership--med benefits for one. Perhaps Marriage should be solely a religious event apart from civil unions and then each religion could follow its own rules on who and who not could get married. Separation of church and state with no mention of marriage by government. IRS would have to deal with filers differently than they do now regarding joint returns for one thing. mike
