<<<1) Saddam's military is better than the Vietcong.>>>

You're kidding, right? Viet Cong never surrendered in mass groups of 2,000 like Saddam's. They were far more highly motivated. Unlike the Iraqis they were impossible to demoralize. Our enemies in Viet Nam were some of the best soldiers to fight in this century.

<<<In Vietnam, we had the assistance of the ARVN,>>>

Again, you're kidding, right? The Brits helping us right now are 10 times more committed and effective than any Arvin unit ever was.

Saddam's military is better than the Vietcong.

Way far from proving that yet.

He's baaack. No insight whatsoever. No humility whatsoever.

Just - here's Carl and FY if you have any problems with that.

I've thought about it long and hard. If I am going to stand by my own integrity, a man who shits on others for no reason and won't apologize when he's wrong deserves banishment, but if the moderator won't banish him, the best I can do is permanent Ignore.

I dunno, Carl — Jack Nicholson eats breakfast 300 yards from 4000 Cubans who are trained to kill him. Library cards don't provide a lot of armor. Past world paradigms are so … five minutes ago, particularly when they don't apply. History will be interesting when this finally gets worked out. VC and ARVN, however, will not be likely parallels.

"I have a military library of around 2000 books. Damn few of them are on Vietnam."
