Sierra On-Line....A company bought out Sierra quite some time ago. This company merged with another company to become Cendant. If I remember correctly, Cendant ran into HUGE accounting problems which resulted in their divesting of alot of their assets including Sierra. The story below discusses the sell of Sierra and its current parent.

Cendant Closes Sale of Consumer Software Division
Source: Reuters

Cendant Corp., which franchises hotels, car-rental agencies and real estate broker offices, said on Tuesday it had completed the sale of Cendant Software and its subsidiaries to French media company Havas SA for $800 million cash plus future potential cash payments.

The sale, which includes Knowledge Adventure, Blizzard Entertainment, Davidson & Associates and Sierra On-Line, is part of Cendant's effort to sell off its non-core assets, repay debt and repurchase stock.

Havas is a subsidiary of Vivendi SA.

Cendant said that during the past 30 days it has received more than $1.3 billion of proceeds from asset sales, which it used to repurchase stock and reduce debt.

On Oct. 13 Cendant announced plans to buy back $1 billion of its stock. Since then, it has reduced primary shares outstanding by about 25 million, the company said.

Shares of Cendant were down 25 cents at $18.94 Tuesday afternoon.
