Eastmain Resources Inc. (ER-TSE) is pleased to report that a
gold-bearing polymetallic (VMS) sulphide horizon has been traced
for a length of 1200 metres, on its wholly owned Akweskwa Project,
near Timmins, Ontario. Gold-bearing disseminated to semi-massive
pyrite and sphalerite was intersected in all six diamond drill
holes on the Dunvegan Zone across widths of one to ten metres.
Drill hole 96-22 intersected up to 18.51 gpt Au (0.54 ounces)
across one metre and 1.07 gpt Au across seven metres. Hole 96-20
also intersected 0.59 gpt Au, 11.8 gpt Ag and 1.10% Zn across 10
metres. Results to date confirm the presence of a significant
gold-bearing system which requires additional drilling.

The Dunvegan mineralization is contained within a broader zone of
altered felsic volcanic rocks, geochemically enriched in gold (20
to 500 ppb) and zinc (500 to 5000 ppm), which have been traced on
surface over an area 2,900 metres long by up to 150 metres wide.
The mineralization encountered to date is typical of the "distal"
portion or edge of a pyritic gold deposit such as the large
producing gold mines at Hemlo and Bousquet. Consequently, there is
excellent potential for the metal grade and thickness to increase
below the current limit of drilling. The Dunvegan Zone which has
only been drilled to 150 metres vertically below surface.

Due to the encouraging nature of these results and previous drill
intersections within the Dunvegan Zone, which encountered 20.5 gpt
Au across 1.95 metres and 18.5 gpt Au across 3.04 metres, a second
tier of drill holes, to test below the current level of diamond,
will commence on this zone in July.

An exploration budget in excess of $1.5 Million has been allocated
to the Eastmain River Projects for 1997. Exploration will include
a two phase program of surface stripping and diamond drilling on
the high grade gold deposit at Clearwater, held in joint venture
with SOQUEM. Work will also be completed on our joint venture
projects at Lac Elmer (Barrick Gold Corporation) and at Lac Hudson
(Orezone Resources Inc.).

The news release looks quite thorough and details a lot of good hits..

I picked up my Eastmain stock last fall and I would like to talk to someone who knows what the company is working on at the present time.

I am also interested in knowing why the stock did not climb more than what it did with the latest release.

Hello Danny Pardon my intrusion.I believe the answer is because the hits were on shallow holes. They only tested to the 150 meter level. Not enough to get the street excited. Are you aware Biding On Bay Street follows this company & will e- mail you updates. You can reach them at . Hope this helps.

Hey Terry, I appreciate your comments and thanks for the information.

Yes, I was aware of "Bidding on Bay Street", great information eh, but I have not been following closely enough to get a good handle on Eastmain's activities and interests.

Do you think ER will continue with further deep drilling or persue other possible properties. In otherwords, are the results from their last drilling assays attractive enough to develop? If you have any thoughts let me know.

Thanks again.

Hey Bernard, obviously this stock felt the tremors of the gold stock shaker over the last few days. I have noticed that a lot of the other Gold stocks have rebounded somewhat. Any good news coming out of ER?

Anyone still following this one? Long time since any news. Any idea when the next drill results will be out?

Hi Terry, I too have been waiting for something to break the silence, it is pretty quiet out there.

I don't know about you Terry, but just about all of my mineral stocks have taken a small beating when they release something decent....go figure.

Anyway, when I hear something I'll be sure to give you a shout.

Hello Danny
Yeah, mine too.Temted to average down on several of them as they appear to be excellent deals.Wonder how long it'll take before the Bre-x factor will blow over. Many mutual fuds are dumping their small mineral E&d holdings. The wheel will turn eventually.
I'm encouraged with this one as their last drill results were decent & I also read in the Globe& Mail a few weeks ago the company president stating they had enough funds to continue for the next few years.
Seems to be something in the wind as the price has bumped up on more than usual volume. Close to a positive news release maybe?
Good luck.Keep in touch.

News Release: New director; Lac Elmer progress;
Clearwater to begin drilling in August

Eastmain Resources Inc ER
Shares issued 16,200,000 Apr 28 close $0.32
Wed 29 Apr 98 News Release
Mr. Donald Robinson reports
Eastmain has appointed Bruce A. Bouley to its board of directors. Dr.
Bouley has 25 years experience as a manager and exploration geologist in
the mining industry. He has worked primarily in Canada, the U.S. and
Most recently with BHP Minerals International Exploration, Dr. Bouley
managed a multi-disciplinary exploration program in North and Central
America with more than 60 permanent geoscientists in as many as 10 offices,
with budgets of $20-million to $30-million. He has worked with advanced
stage exploration projects and co-ordinated activities leading to the
prefeasibility of mineral properties. Dr. Bouley also managed the
exploration activities for Cominco Alaska from 1990 to 1995 and for
Callahan Mining Corp. from 1980 to 1990.
Diamond drilling has recently been completed at Eastmain's joint venture
with Barrick Gold at Lac Elmer, Quebec. No assay data has been received by
the company to date. The joint venture partners have traced a 7 kilometre
long gold-silver rich, pyritic tuff horizon on the property, which is
geologically comparable to rocks that host the mines within the Bousquet
Surface exploration and diamond drilling is also scheduled at Eastmain's
newly acquired Railroad project in Bathurst, New Brunswick. Previous work
by BHP Minerals intersected ore grade base metals over mineable widths
within an extension of the prolific Brunswick mine horizon. Eight base
metal sulphide prospects have been identified on this 4,896 hectare
property. Drilling to date indicates the potential for a world class base
metal deposit on this highly prospective property, within 5 miles of
Noranda's Heath Steele base metal mine and mill.
Diamond drilling will also commence in August on Eastmain's 50 per cent
owned Clearwater project, in joint venture with SOQUEM. A drill indicated
resource of 800,000 tonnes grading 11.7 g/t gold has been outlined.
