My mechanic friend is FANATCIAL about this stock now.
I argued with him at a party all night, note we were both loaded. He is convinced its a bargin, I said "fine, but it could also goto $5, dont try to pick a bottom."
I've decided I'll go long a small position. If it goes up, obviously I was right in agreeing. If it goes down, I can tell my friend how wrong he was , "thanks for the tip, ass!"
I love win/win propostions haahhaa! |

So, what happened to this puppy?? I started watching when it dropped from 30 to 20's. Then I lost interest(luckily) and I noticed that a private investment manager that I'm familiar with starting taking a big position in late 99. But this thing has still been going down. It appears to have bottomed in the last 10 days....
Is there any reason why the bottom fell out?? |

Re: "Is there any reason why the bottom fell out??"
Good question. I imagine part of it is the dumping of traditional product companies and the flight to high-tech and biotech glamour stocks. But I'm sure it's much more than that. I'm sure part of it is the miserable mistakes that have been made by management over the past couple of years (failed Express stores, borrowing money to buy back stock at much higher levels, etc.). Then, there's the tendency of the management to spring negative earnings surprises on the institutional investment community.
All in all, pretty terrible management.
Plus, there's the idea that the "do-it-yourself" auto repair business model is dead, since cars are so complex now.
Generally, stock prices tend to discount the future, which means that there is probably going to be some very negative news in the near future.
Cheery, eh?
Best wishes,
I2 |

Looks like we got the bad news today. It will be amazing that this stock can go even further.
This stock has now become something like 0.05% of my portfolio. I won't even bother selling it. If it goes to dust, so be it! |
