It puzzles me as well. I wish we could get this thread going. There jsut isn't much going on. Here are my questions.
What are the prospects of Hughes acquiring USSB? There is some talk of Primestar going public. Any news? what are the implications for USSB? Around where in terms of subscribers is the break even?
Also the April numbers for direct TV subscribers look good. There is a lot of interest in sat TV around the world and there seems to be no let up in subscribers. This baby has got to move soon! --SCHMOE |

Joe,
I have heard that the Hubbards don't want to sell out to Hughes, or anybody else. They want to continue to control the company. Any other opinions about this out there?
I don't know anything about Primestar going public.
Hubbard stated some months ago that the break even point was 1.6 million subscribers. We are almost there now.
Thanks for the post. Hopefully this thread will start to pick up along with the stock price.

Down 1/2. Any reason? If the breakeven is 1.6, were in good shape. I think when the company moves into the black we are going to get a good pop. Probably not this Q (though they should be close to 1.6 million) maybe 3rd Q and probably fouth Q. Then a lot of people who like the DBS idea, but as a rule don't invest until they're in the black will come in. Check out www.dbsdish.com/dbsdata.html
Direct TV continues to grow faster than anyone. If the Echostar deal w/ Murdoch falls through which is probable, I don't think they have the cash to survive in the long run, and Primestar is still behind and run by cable operators who have mixed feelings about DBS.
USSB is still the best pure play in the hottest tech product to come along for some time. I'm taking the opp of the drop today to increase my position. SCHMOE |

Joe,
I agree with you. The USSB drop is entirely in sympathy with DISH, which could be in bad shape now that Murdoch has burned them. USSB should eventually benefit.

Michael, are you still following this company? I've been thinking of making a play in the Sattelite T.V. area and funamentally this company looks the most attractive.
Any thoughts appreciated about USSB or the industry in general.
