From: Zen Dollar Round | 10/15/2021 2:44:17 PM | | | | Anyone else here planning on buying one of the new MacBook Pros rumored to be announced on Monday?
A family member of mine will be ordering a 16" MBP on first day of release. He's been waiting somewhat impatiently to replace his 2015 15" MBP after seeing how well my mother's 13" M1 MBP has performed. |

Better selection of ports would be nice as well as the MagSafe. Unfortunately, my daughter needed a new Mac before leaving for college and we couldn't wait. She was still using a 5 or 6 year old MacBook Air that we had got her in middle school. While it still worked ok at home, the battery was an issue as well as having something that would work well with all the new things she would have to use it for at school(without me around trying to find workarounds for things that she needed to do). |

The techie in me wants to get one but I will wait and see if I am going to do anything that would warrant buying one.
They also announced version 3 of the AirPods which seem nice as well. Better possibility that I might buy at least one pair of these. Also and lower priced, Siri only version of Apple Music for 4.99 a month. The whole world is going subscription. |

I'm skeptical and prefer to buy only the items I want to buy, not being forced into a subscription mode. Personally, I don’t like the subscription model, but I hardly listen to any new music at all except when I am listening to the radio while driving with the family. Especially for younger folk who listen to all the new music as it is coming out, and can listen to older music if the subscription service has a nice catalogue, I think subscription is probably a good deal as long as you can continue to afford it. Because if the subscription goes bye bye, then you don’t have any music, or you need to go with a service that runs off of ad revenue. Depending on how the new Siri related service runs, it may be a real good deal, as long as they don’t plan on increasing the price if they get a lot of people signing up. My guess is that are going to use this as a way to lead people into their more expensive music streaming services. |
