A brief chat with the fired #AppleToo organizer

I don't pretend to know the particulars... but its looking like a PR problem.

From this ped30 article

ped30.com

only 1 of the 2 leaders of the movement was fired. I thought I had read somewhere that Parrish was fired for leaking information, but I am not sure who to believe.

We see the new M1 MacBooks today

ped30.com

Better selection of ports would be nice as well as the MagSafe. Unfortunately, my daughter needed a new Mac before leaving for college and we couldn't wait. She was still using a 5 or 6 year old MacBook Air that we had got her in middle school. While it still worked ok at home, the battery was an issue as well as having something that would work well with all the new things she would have to use it for at school(without me around trying to find workarounds for things that she needed to do).

I got a chance to watch the show for the new Apple MacBook Pros. Very nice machines with a nice range of prices. The techie in me wants to get one but I will wait and see if I am going to do anything that would warrant buying one.

They also announced version 3 of the AirPods which seem nice as well. Better possibility that I might buy at least one pair of these. Also and lower priced, Siri only version of Apple Music for 4.99 a month. The whole world is going subscription.

"The whole world is going subscription." You're right, but do you think this is a good idea? I'm skeptical and prefer to buy only the items I want to buy, not being forced into a subscription mode.

Personally, I don’t like the subscription model, but I hardly listen to any new music at all except when I am listening to the radio while driving with the family. Especially for younger folk who listen to all the new music as it is coming out, and can listen to older music if the subscription service has a nice catalogue, I think subscription is probably a good deal as long as you can continue to afford it. Because if the subscription goes bye bye, then you don’t have any music, or you need to go with a service that runs off of ad revenue. Depending on how the new Siri related service runs, it may be a real good deal, as long as they don’t plan on increasing the price if they get a lot of people signing up. My guess is that are going to use this as a way to lead people into their more expensive music streaming services.

They did fix a lot of problems. Ports & MagSafe are welcomed back. And I'm happy to see that tiny keyboard screen (what do they call that thing?) GONE.

But the CPU and video performance are extremely surprising. And the size of the MAX die is gobsmacking while still very power efficient for what it does.

I bought an Intel-based MacBook Pro last year because, well because I retired from Intel.

But dang, I had no idea Apple would turn out a MacBook Pro like this.

Wholly Cow!

Man... their commercial is annoying. I want to see the new Macbooks but I DO NOT want to sit through 22 minutes of bombastic hype to see the new features... like the "tiny keyboard screen"... I guess I'll have to wait to see what that is.

I'll wait until someone reasonable on youtube makes a 4 minute review.

Going backwards on the design and forwards on the chips... good both ways.

Its nice to see them finally responding to customers and common sense with the ports, MagSafe, hopefully a non-disaster keyboard, basically erasing the Ive bullshit "elegance" sales pitch for a machine that works. There's hope yet.

Apple listened to its most loyal customers and fixed its laptop problems from the last five years

I guess the batteries are bigger and they charge faster too.

God their commercials are annoying. Just give me the facts... show some stats on speed don't tell me its "faster." Raving about the screen as if anyone really cares... one thing he didn't rave about is a touch screen like my experimental new laptop which does have a touch screen.

As a tech company, its a bit funny they had to go backwards technologically on the keyboard and mag-safe... WTF were they thinking. I think Ive had them all buffaloed. Anyway its a good thing.
