Today, soon Apple will announce earnings and this board will be lively and all abuzz with discussion.

Or not.

Noncommittal; nice... spoken like a true AAPL commentator and so-called analyst!!

I was hoping for a pop over 150 so I can sell some more shares and balance the portfolio...

NAG1, thanks for turning me on to PED 3.0. Did you see the comment from Jerry Doyle on the PED Forest Gump Article?

"Over the years I long have emphasized why owning and “holding” even a few shares of Apple puts you way ahead. And why owning and buying right now is still a very, very smart move."

Never sell... never surrender! :D

You are welcome. I have found his site informative to the point of thinking about joining later this year.

I have owned Apple for about a quarter of a century right now. I have sold a fair amount to diversify the portfolio. I also just retired and sold some Apple last year to make sure I had enough cash on hand in case the markets crashed secondary to COVID. Apple is still too big a part of my net worth but I am selling at certain points to rebalance the portfolio.

Had to do some portfolio rebalancing myself over the last couple of days.

3 out of the 4 stocks hit the prices I set no issue.

The 4th which I had to sell today or face margin charges kept getting super close to my number then falling back.

Sat up all night watching level 2 numbers and kept lowering my number so the sale happened.

Went to sleep and the market rallied into the close hitting what I had originally set the price for.

Guess the only way to guarantee the stock goes up is for us to sell it.

Think what tanked the stock today was the news about the iPhone chip shortages.

That, and the overall market is overvalued right now from a technical standpoint.

When you have the tech giants show great earnings and have blowout numbers then fail to move upward, that's a big tell.

Most people seem to want to blame a particular data point for AAPL not responding positively to the numbers, while all of Nasdaq was down 1.2% today. The overall market is a bit weak right now.

Let's see how things with AAPL play out over the next few days...

Based on the vagueness of the earnings call comments, is it news or speculation? Yes, there was mention of chip shortages, but the reasons of said shortages remains unclear (at least in my book; feel free to help a brotha out if I'm misguided.) Could the hint of "shortages" be a demand "issue" and not as much a supply problem like the chicken littles are reporting? At least, that's how I took the 'news'. At the end of the day--right or wrong--the buzz and the market response decides the narrative, along with the actions that are taken, which will hopefully affect only the short term outcome of this amazing company.
