When I saw Platoon, the thing that struck hard, was the intro "Cu Chi, Oct 1967". I slunk in my seat. I was in Cu Chi, Oct 1967 when I first arrived Viet Nam.
The 25th Infantry Division headquarters was there. In retrospect, the "tunnels of Cu Chi" discovered much later was not a big surprise.
After my 2 weeks Viet Nam intro I was in Tay Ninh, to the northwest of Cu Chi and much closer to the Cambodian border.
The story of morality in war is a truism. There was the "good", the "bad" and the f***ing pentagon pushing the buttons.
