Where’s Chandra Levy? Don’t Evangelicals have any influence on Israel pols and Rabbi’s? On July 10, 2001 @ 10 a.m. Chandra was supposedly dead but at that moment she was so close I could have shaken her hand, with a reach and a little bend at the waist to reach her in her car seat, assuming she rolled down the window. I was curb-side and she was slooooowly driving a 1998-ish Caddy with tinted rear windows, white over navy, landau top, WA plates. She was wearing the black cowl-neck sweater famously seen in photos of her with the massive curly ebony hair also famous from photos. Until that moment no presentation had shown how petite she was in stature, she just sat up to the headrests. She was rubber-necking looking at addresses, unaware how close to the temple address she was (you can’t see it until you are directly in the drive since the cul-de-sac is a long narrow gated and walled mini-neighborhood isolated from adjacent homes.)
It was a rare clear sky sunny morning and the start of the brief Seattle summer and MLB All-Star days at the brand new stadium. Visibility was perfect and I could see her clearly from very many yards away as she approached through the sunshine illuminated car window.
