Thank you for sharing your perspective. To me, return on investment, EPS, (exponential) growth in revenue and more importantly capital gains are key. I can see why fluency in any languague can be important (I speak 9 of them). Lots of great CEOs speak Chinese only but they deliver great beats to their shareholders. I joined this SI board to get informed and to figure out how to navigate a dicey investment decision that has not been great thus far to me

Rumor is STMicro is after Nordic Semiconductor. They play in the Cat 1 and Cat M space (they have other products as well Q4 revenue of 125 million or so)
Be nice if someone wanted to buy SQNS

I always thought STMicro might be the best fit for Sequans. They're Geneva based but must share French culture and might have the best chance of getting French governmental approval for an acquisition. Sequans has had a close relationship with STM for several years (at least since 2019):

Nordic Semiconductor has 'no knowledge' of any STMicro interest

MILAN/OSLO (Reuters) -Nordic Semiconductor's chief financial officer said the Oslo-listed firm had "no knowledge" of any takeover interest from Franco-Italian chipmaker STMicroelectronics after a report on Thursday in Italian newspaper MF.

Asked by Reuters about any STMicroelectronics interest and whether he could confirm or deny that the companies had been in talks, as reported by MF, Nordic's CFO Paal Elstad said he had no knowledge of it.

"We have no knowledge of this, so we have no comment," Paal Elstad said in a text message. "This is unknown to us."

STMicroelectronics declined to comment on the MF report.

Nordic's share price rose by 12.8% to hit an all-time high of 219.8 Norwegian crowns. It has risen by some 55% so far this year amid a surge in global demand for semiconductors, giving it a market capitalisation of $5 billion.

Nordic sells wireless chips and devices designed for ultra-low power consumption, which are used in a wide variety of electronics and computers, but does not itself manufacture the silicon wafers used in the products.

I suspect that STM and SQNS are in talks. Nordic's price point is a little too high while SQNS is really cheap. Acquired or not, the future for SQNS looks good to me. That is if GK can keep his eyes on the ball and beat market expectations in KEW 2 on both revenue AND eps. Lets hope so and lets pray!!

Hello all:

I sold the last of my SQNS today. It has been an 8 plus year uphill battle with this company. My timing might not be great, but I could no longer find myself comfortable with their management and the endless excuses they come up with. Some of their excuses don't fall entirely on them, but most do. Ignoring the broadband market and losing their "cash" cow was the first of many blunders. Most of them fall squarely on GK.
The last straw came this week watching the Skyworks, Richardson webinar. Two companies that were highlighted as success stories were Pebblebee and Diatrics.
Pebblebee is now a year late in delivering my devices. Diatrics, we don't have any babies around anymore so I can't comment on them.
If Pebblebee was an example of what good looks like when it comes to using Sequans technology, then they are in bigger trouble than I imagined.

I have put my "aggressive" investment dollars to work in another company, another industry that I am a lot more familiar with. No kidding, having invested in this "new company" for 43 days, I have recouped all of my SQNS losses.

PebbleBee and Daatrics were examples of tiny companies being helped to market by Skyworks and Sequans. They showed slides how you can save a few hundred $k on certifcation and tens of $k on testing.

This wasn't a webinar for an Itron, the world's largest metering company, but for little startups with novel product ideas - for companies with only a couple engineers.

80% of Nordic's revenue is from BLE, 17% proprietary wireless (ANT, Thread, Zigbee) and 3% other which would have to cover LTE and WiFi.

Sequans vs Nordic does not seem like an apples to apples comparison.

When I bought SQNS about 5 years ago I was hoping for a 5X - 10X. Now I'd be ecstatic to sell for 2X.

Notice the date in the slide from that presentation. I thought they had been shipping their LTE product in limited quantities for several years. But the slide says they plan to launch an EVT sample in Q2 of 21.

It appears that there is a lot more engineering effort to bring products to market that is generally talked about. If you listen to Sequans it's 3-6 months but NEEBO and Pebblebee have about 4 years combined and no volume product yet.

I think the effort to write the device firmware, power management, web elements, apps etc. greatly outstrips the effort to implement the LTE functionality. High quality consumer uses are going to be slow relative to industrial uses where you are literally just sending a block of data to a database on a periodic schedule.
