Overall, if there is a futures contract available, I'd stay away from the 3x ETFs. If not, then they are a substitute for the futures.
Re: Chinese stocks. I am on the record predicting that most of them will come close to 5 year lows. For many that is not too far to go. Hitting the 2019 lows is the same as hitting 5 year lows.
I think by the Chinese new year, possibly a couple of months later, we are likely to have hit a bottom in Chinese stocks. But you need to be wary of which sectors to invest in. Chinese real estate may take a hit. And I am not talking about Evergrande; I'm talking about RE on the whole completely separate from Evergrande. The government will intervene, but that will not stop at least some spillover into other sectors.
If one is intent on investing in Chinese stocks, they should stay with midcap A-stocks or with hard technology (ideally also A-shares). |

I expect all politicians, regardless of ideology, to be transactional and amoral, so I am rarely disappointed in them. |

To: Jacob Snyder who wrote (37915) | 9/25/2021 10:15:22 PM | From: Sun Tzu | | | His father would have taken that chance. It was quite obvious that Trump wanted Meng as a bargaining chip. Canada would bear the costs while Trump would reap the rewards. The whole setup was as clear as sunny day in CA. Trudeau could have, and should have found a way to let Meng slip through the cracks while officially protesting the mishap. There wasn't much that Trump could do about it that he was not already doing.
Also, say what you will about Trump, but unless you had publicly bruised his ego, which this would not have been, Trump was and is extremely transactional. Much more so than any other politician I've known. This means that Trump would not have kept a grudge. If there was a deal later on to be made that Trump would consider favorable, then he would have made that deal and Canada's problems would have been short lived. It is not as if arresting Meng did not have a cost associated with it. |
