What in the world makes you think there's only one reason for Russia's invasion of Ukraine???

Kindly provide me with a sensible and convincing answer in your own words...

The question is "WHY did Russia invade Ukraine?"

In the two interviews I provided links to and other available sources on the web I have uncovered a few reasons.

1. The CIA installed government in Ukraine was persecuting the Russians living in eastern Ukraine. Putin wrote letters to the leaders of France and Spain to seek help for these people but to no avail. These people formed a separatist group and were seeking reunification with Russia which only increased the persecution.
Many citizens in Russia who lived along the border had family members that lived in Ukraine and visa versa.
After receiving no help from the EU to pressure the corrupt Zelensky government for assistance. Putin was provoked to take action to assist these Russians. Putin, till today, seeks autonomy for the area these Russians inhabit and has offered to make peace if it is granted. He also demands that Ukraine does not join Nato. That is discussed in the number two reason Russia invaded Ukraine.

2. In 1991 and on from the time of the rejecting of Communism in Russia and the dismantling of the Warsaw Pact, the Nato nations promised Russia they would not move Nato one inch eastward toward Russia. This was and remains a lie because then Nato recruited every eastern country from the previous Warsaw pact to join Nato. Remember that the purpose of Nato was to protect European countries from any attack from the Soviet Union. Once the Soviet Union ceased to exist and Communism was no longer in control of Russia there was no longer a reason for Nato to exist.
The Russian Federation had no desire to Quarrel with Europe and openly sought cooperation with them and the US. Only to be rebuffed and demonized by the West. Russia sought to be what they called a "normal" country. They wanted trade and cooperation with the rest of the world. Reforms of every kind swept through Russia. There was massive return to orthodox Christianity from atheistic Communism. Churches that had been closed by the Communist were reopened and new ones were erected. With Putin came great emphasis on the family, morality and a return to decent society in Russia. He spoke many times warning the West that they were going down the same destructive path of anti-God, anti-family, anti-morality that Russia suffered under Communism. He said it nearly destroyed Russian society and most certainly would destroy society in the West and the United States if they continued in the direction they were going.
This does not fit the narrative of the neocons who control our foreign policy. They need a Russia that is belligerent to the West and seeks to dominate Europe and destroy all that we as free people hold dear. So they have created one thru propaganda disseminated by our captive press. Many Americans have no idea that Russia is no longer a Communist country.
I know this all sounds strange, but the truth often does. We are told by our government that Russia is an enemy to be feared and hated. That Putin is a thug who wants to rebuild the Soviet Union. We are told he said the fall of the Soviet Union was a great tragedy. He did not say that and he does not believe that. He was pointing to the fact that with the sudden end of Communism and the end of the Warsaw pact left many Russians living abroad. He said that and the hard times they had returning to Russia was a tragedy.
This same Government that tells us what to believe about Russia told us to take an unproven vaccine, or we could not work, go to school or church. The vaccine proved to be deadly and did not work. Things like Ivermectin, the horse wormer medicine they called it, they now admit did work.
As Americans we are good people, and we want to believe that our government is filled with good people. It just is not so. Good people exist in our government but they are outnumbered at the present time.
The neocons in charge of our foreign policy are as corrupt as the government of Zelensky they installed in Ukraine.
Here are some sobering facts. Putin will never allow Ukraine to join Nato. That is a red line he will never allow to be crossed. Ukraine is space between Russia and Nato which chooses to be an adversary of Russia. The neocons in charge of our foreign policy want to surround Russia and even deny them a sea port to the South and that is why they took Georgia. It would be tantamount to the US allowing China to put military bases along the Rio Grande. Thinking that Russia will just cave to whatever the US led Nato wants is a fantasy born of not knowing how deep Russian Patriotism runs. The Germans learned this the hard way at Leningrad, now Saint Petersburg. The name changed with Russia's rejection of Communism.
We would not allow the USSR to place a missile base in Cuba nor should we have. We went to the brink of nuclear war with the USSR to stop it.
Russian Patriotism is summed up in two words that say it all. These two words are "Mother Russia". The stupid neocons in charge of our foreign policy will go over the brink if they are not reigned in. The Russian people have that true patriotism that is a deep-felt love for their country. It is the patriotism felt by our Founding Fathers who loved this land, the people and the promise they saw for its future peace and prosperity. They were loving patriots to their country not because of its military might, it had little. They prayed it would be enough and with Frances's help and the providence of God it proved to be so.
Have you ever really thought about why you "love our country"? The neo cons only love its power which they use recklessly around the world fighting needless and useless wars killing hundreds of thousands.
They provoked Russia into invading Ukraine where 500,000 Ukrainian soldiers have been killed and near 50,000 Russians have died. But we are told to take comfort that Americans are not dying yet.
The neocons have NO respect for human life and they have the blood of untold thousands on their hands.
I think TRUTH will eventually prevail. What we desperately need is a man who is not a neocon. Not a politician but an American First Patriot who truly loves our country for the right reasons and can see past the politics, and lust for power and see the truth about the CIA, FBI, DOJ, WHO, HLS, DNC and all the other three letter sink holes that are off the rails. One who has the courage to speak truth to power. One who has the backing of the everyday American who loves his country for the right reasons. One who is willing to lay aside the retirement he earned and risk it all to save the country he loves. May God bless him.

While I am at it tonight there is something else I wish to say. I hear the left point to the many faults of Donald Trump and then go way beyond those we are all aware of. They rail against the evangelicals and say, "How can you vote for such a sinner?" I am thinking about David who we know as the Sweet Psalmist of Israel.
He penned the 23d Psalm which is read today at almost all funerals. You know the one, "The Lord is my shepherd I shall not want". You know the one who the scriptures say was a man after God's own heart. You know the one who God made King of the Jews.
What else did David do? Well. he committed adultery and to take this other man's wife he had this faithful soldier killed. But God's prophet called him to task for these wretched sins and he repented and said to God that against Him had he sinned and done this great evil in His sight.
So we see that God chooses imperfect people to accomplish his purposes on the Earth. The reason He does so is because that is all He has to choose from. Jesus Christ alone was the sinless Savior.
Remember the words of Jesus Christ that should sound loudly when we self righteously condemn others.
"Let him that is without sin cast the first stone."

Good Night

Then your question was highly misleading...

I answered the question as plainly as you asked it, very simply and in only a few words...

Nothing I said can be refuted, but you openly implied that my answer was not correct, not even close...

Frankly, you didn't answer your own initial question, instead you went into a lengthy history of the region...

Your question didn't ask anything about the lengthy history of that region or it would have been addressed...

While your explanation was likely factual, it didn't address the simplicity of your initial question...

Was the initial question supposed to be a trick question???

If you were asking for a lengthy history of the region, then say so and your question could have been more specific...

To fit your lengthy explanation, then here's the question you should have posed:

What are some of the specific historic reasons Russia invaded Ukraine???

And not:

Why did Russia invade Ukraine?

If you think the neocons care about the lives of half a million dead Ukranian soldiers and the misery of the Ukranian people you are very naive. This could all have been completely avoided. This is just another in a long list of debacles caused by the neocons stupidity and arrogance.
Yes, it is frightening to say so.
If you needlessly and arrogantly poke the bear often enough, you eventually will provoke the bear to poke back. This is exactly what the neocons have purposely done. What they have done is as unforgivable and anti US interest as what they have done at our southern border. It is just not as blatantly obvious and has been in operation for a couple of decades but has been just as deliberate.
Surrounding Russia with Nato and isolating her has been the plan for the last couple of decades and through several administrations both Democrat and Republican. Russia has decided it goes no further.
Stupidity, incompetence, ignorance, arrogance and greed may take the world to the brink of world war again.
Russia invaded Ukraine and we were told a thousand times it was unprovoked. It is just not so.
I know many still believe that our government and our captured press would never lie to us. I am not one of them.

He invaded Georgia after long term issues after breaking up of USSR. US was training Troops in Georgia. Georgia was on the verge of joining NATO. It was all part of the neocons plan to surround Russia with NATO.
How a Five-Day War With Georgia Allowed Russia to Reassert Its Military Might | HISTORY

This link goes pretty deep into what happened and when it took place. A lot to be learned here.
Bing Videos

Bottom line is Russia's security was threatened by US led NATO and in 2014 the issues with Ukraine, Georgia, and Crimea all came to a head.

Thank you....I just think that Russia invading those countries only increased the risk of NATO acting against them. The Russians have always been a jittery people and with some just cause especially WW2. Stalin made one of the largest land grabs in history to secure his border after Hitler stabbed him in the back.
