my recorded voice isn't appealing to me at all.

I sound like Kermit The Frog.

You probably don't sound as bad as you think to others. Our recorded voice is nothing like what we sound like to ourselves. That's why most people are uncomfortable with their own recorded voice.

Can we talk about words we don't like? Never liked 'proactive', and 'wellness' is beginning to grate on me too. Saw them used in conjunction today on the cover of a magazine at the grocery store - 'proactive wellness.'

I suppose the terms are rather innocuous but for some reason they irritate me.

Words we don't like.

Choices. We need to start making good choices. It just raised my hackles.

Hackles, there's a good word.

According to Merriam-Webster proactive was first used in 1933.

More recently there is pro-life (1960) and pro-choice (1973).

Wellness is much older and dates back to 1653.

One can act, or take action. Can one proact?
