It is compared to 2 years ago . But 15 years ? We have gone from 200 spots/day to less than 10 . Is it me or is suspicious observer trying to paint the tape ? The chart is showing Spots for the month . The daily tells the story . If he is saying the lack of spots allows a chance for a CME to mess things up , ok . So, there may be a little tape painting going on in that regard. Not much though since there's also the weakening magnetosphere to take into account.
