AMOC shutdown is nearly entering the race - with volcanoes, solar flares/CMEs and the fragility of the food system - for being the "event" that brings the house down.
An AMOC shutdown would be a bit sudden from here with a Beaufort Gyre release...which is pending.

There's probably something else out there in the race too. I just haven't seen it yet.
I'll give it to within 30 months for a "winner" to appear out of the pack.

Think it is an early winter for them and as Doug has pointed out this month it is back to more what they understand to be normal .

Winter's not done with the South yet. Spring won't be a picnic either.

The last two weeks have seen a very large number of extensive high wind events globally.
I wonder if there are corresponding "doldrum" events and if a systemic change is occurring.
The longer it goes on, the more likely it's systemic.
I could list more than 20 from everywhere.
The 2020 Iowa derecho also comes to mind.
