Fy25 guidance looks excellent. I was losing patience with growth returning here, to the point I may have bailed. First look pretty good and AH market reaction looks strong. Details later.

PS Div up 10% too.

Bullish Outlook on Dolby Laboratories: Strategic Acquisitions and Technological Advancements Drive Buy Rating

James Goss has given his Buy rating due to a combination of factors surrounding Dolby Laboratories’ strategic and financial positioning. The company has provided robust guidance for fiscal 2025 with expected revenue growth and targeted non-GAAP EPS, signaling confidence in its business trajectory. Despite a decrease in foundational revenues in 2024, stabilization of device volumes and the normalization of consumer behavior post-pandemic are anticipated to support revenue figures.

Additionally, Dolby’s expanding adoption of its Atmos, Vision, and imaging patents across various devices and industries, including automotive and content creation, showcases its technological advancement and market penetration. The strategic acquisition of THEO further enhances Dolby’s capabilities in the streaming space. Furthermore, Dolby’s fiscal performance, with revenue improvements and efficient cost management, along with a recent dividend increase and a substantial share repurchase authorization, underline its commitment to shareholder value. These elements collectively support the bullish outlook and the reaffirmation of a $100 price target.

Rosenblatt analyst Steve Frankel raised the price target on Dolby Laboratories to $100.00 (from $98.00) while maintaining a Buy rating.

The analyst comments "Dolby posted strong Q4 results and gave FY25 guidance that was above the Street, reflecting stabilizing demand and the accretion of the GE Licensing deal. We see growing traction for Atmos & Vision as the key to return to steady top line growth and continued margin expansion. With the shares trading at a mid-teen PE on CY25 EPS, we are reiterating our Buy rating and raising our PT from $98 to $100."

CFRA Maintains Hold Rating on Shares of Dolby Laboratories, Inc. (DLB 78.34***) We raise our price target by $6 to $82, 20x our FY 25 (Sep.) EPS view, below DLB’s five-year average (~23x) on soft consumer device volumes and uncertainty about new tariffs. We raise our FY 25 EPS view by $0.30 to $4.10 and initiate FY 26’s at $4.30. DLB posted near-consensus Sep-Q sales of $305M (+5% Y/Y) and above-consensus EPS of $0.81 (+25%). We expect FY 25 to look similar to FY 24, with momentum for Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision (+15% organic growth projected) offset by a modest decline in foundational technologies (~60% of FY 24 licensing revenue). DLB sees foundational tech stabilizing, but we see downside risk from increased trade restrictions under Trump, and we hesitate to get bullish on device sales until more details around tariffs emerge. Momentum keeps growing with auto OEMs; DLB added two partners during FQ4 to now total over 20. Both OEMs are associated with China, which we take as an encouraging sign given many U.S. peers’ worsening issues with local Chinese competition in recent periods

And leading into CES, Samsung Display, a leading manufacturer of display solutions for auto manufacturers, announced that it has formed a strategic partnership with Dolby that will help bring Dolby Vision to more cars around the globe. Through this collaborative effort, Samsung Display's cutting-edge OLED displays will be pre-tuned to deliver Dolby Vision, combining best-in-class imaging experiences into a new streamlined evaluation and implementation process that is now available to automotive manufacturers.

I don't know if this suggests Samsung will adopt DV for their TV and handset lineups, but it would be HUGE if it does. I've been waiting for Samsung to get on board since Apple in 2017. Cooters

4 reasons to buy an LG TV over a Samsung TV

4 reasons to buy an LG TV over a Samsung TV

LG embraces a true cinematic experience

Bring the theater feel to your home

Notably, most LG TVs include a Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision, proprietary technologies that elevate the viewing experience by making colors brighter, blacks deeper, and sounds more spatial. The latter in particular is a major edge over Samsung, which refuses to pay Dolby for the service, instead opting for HDR10+ as its video format. Though both are dynamic, adapting frame-by-frame to what's on-screen, Dolby Vision offers a bigger color palette and higher brightness.

Pair Filmmaker Mode with LG's OLED panels, and you've got the best chance to embrace the cinema at home.

With many of the top streaming services offering compatibility with Dolby, including Disney+, Apple TV +, and Netflix, I'm inclined to take advantage of the feature in order to watch the best version of quality content.
