I don't know if any of you have been tracking this, but TideGlider just brought it to my attention. This is an existential threat to the Republican Party. I doubt it will impact Trump, because the liberals won't get their act together quickly enough before Nov'20, but what happens after that will determine if the Democrats win the White House permanently. It's an end run around the Electoral College.

Colorado has joined a list of states that plan to allocate their electoral votes to whichever candidate wins the nationwide popular vote.
Gov. Jared Polis (D) signed the measure into law Friday, uniting Colorado with 11 other states and the District of Columbia in the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact, whose members pledge to use their electoral votes on whichever candidate wins the national popular vote.
The bill will only take effect, however, if the law is passed by states representing at least 270 electoral college votes, which is the amount needed to win the presidency. With the addition of Colorado, that number now sits at 181.
Other jurisdictions that have enacted the legislation include Rhode Island, Vermont, Hawaii, Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, Washington, New Jersey, New York, Illinois, California and the District of Columbia. New Mexico, whose senate approved the legislation earlier this week, could be the next state to join.
Because Republican-controlled legislatures haven’t embraced the effort, changing the electoral college delegate procedures in enough states to reach the 270 combined electoral votes needed to become president could be difficult, Reed Hundt, chairman and co-founder of Making Every Vote Count, told The Washington Post last month. The remaining states where the initiative may pass are smaller and left-leaning, he said.
Under the Constitution, states have the power to determine how they award their electoral votes in national elections. Most states have winner-take-all laws, which award all of its electoral votes to the presidential candidate who receives the most votes within the state. Two states, Maine and Nebraska, split their electoral votes.
Because many states are dominated either by the Democratic or Republican party, the winner of a presidential election is a foregone conclusion in those states. Also because electoral votes are reflective of the representation within the U.S. House and Senate, some states have very large electoral college contingencies, while others are much smaller. As a result, a handful of “battleground” states are where candidates often focus their attention. Still, candidates prefer to win as many states as possible and the popular vote to establish a public mandate for their agendas.
Five of the nation’s 45 presidents have taken office without winning the national popular vote, including Donald Trump. Electoral college losses can be narrow: If Sen. John F. Kerry had 60,000 additional votes in Ohio in 2004, he would have won the election, even though President George W. Bush was 3 million votes ahead in the popular vote.
Because of changes in state demographics, elections are now fought in a tiny number of swing states, Hundt told The Post. In the 2012, 2016 and 2020 elections, nearly 40 states, with about 80 percent of the country’s population, were or will be ignored by both candidates, he said.
"This is a new American demographic, which shows that the electoral system of the 18th century doesn’t work anymore,” he said. “No one at the time the Constitution was written thought that 80 percent of the population would be irrelevant.”
I've been thinking a lot about the US War Machine, ever since Trump decided we needed to get out of Syria. The more I think about what Trump did, the more I think his decision was an act of courage to buck the nearly unanimous deep state and Military Industrial Complex. He was putting Americans first, because I'm not sure we have any material interests in not just Syria, but in the Middle East. The fact is we create more terrorists over there through our military actions than we kill. It's a losing game and for what? Oil? We are net producers of oil. We are energy independent. We don't need Saudi Arabia and we don't need the Middle East.
There are other wars where we have no interests either. Somalia. Let's talk about blowback. In Somalia, we have an undeclared war going on and it is creating a lot of Somali refugees. The US starts to feel sorry for those refugees, because in part, we are creating them, so we give them asylum in the US. You know where many of them now live? In Minnesota. There are so many Somalis in Minnesota that they typically will vote Somalis into all their political positions. Recently, one of those Somalis elected to the US House was Ilhan Omar, one of only two Muslim women elected to the House in the last election. Ilhan Omar has since said several anti-semitic things and is a full supporter of Socialism, the Green New Deal, and anti-Israel policies. She is a Manchurian candidate.
Why should we care? Because as usual, the only enemy that will bring down the US is ourselves. We go to far off lands to wage war for no other reason than to enrich the MIC and to pretend that we're the good guys policing the world and the ultimate blowback are more terrorists and now the election of Muslim Somalis into our House of Representatives. Talk about a direct line from action to consequence. We need to smarten up people. I hope Trump is absorbing things like this. He's a smart man, so likely he already see is, which is why he decided to pull out of Syria. We need to stop policing the world, get our allies to do their share, and spend more of our treasure and lives helping Americans right here at home. AMERICANS FIRST.
With so many little wars to keep track of, you probably haven’t noticed that the US has quietly been increasing its airstrikes against targets in Somalia.
In recent months, dozens of Al-Shabaab terrorist suspects have been killed by American drones and planes in Somalia, reportedly thanks to a surplus becoming available from Syria. However, in a familiar pattern, the US military has denied any civilians were harmed, while locals and aid agencies deny that denial.
A former US ambassador to Somalia told the New York Times:
“It could be there is some well-thought-out strategy behind all of this, but I really doubt it.”
Another former US government official described Somalia as a “massive war on autopilot.”

A former member of the Federal Election Commission called for an investigation Sunday into alleged campaign finance violations by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and her top aide Saikat Chakrabarti.
The Daily Caller News Foundation reported last week that Ocasio-Cortez and Chakrabarti have since December 2017 held legal authority over Justice Democrats, the outside PAC that has been credited with manufacturing her upset primary victory over incumbent Democrat Joe Crowley in June 2018.
The conservative National Legal and Policy Center (NLPC) also filed an FEC complaint last week, first reported by the Washington Examiner, alleging that Justice Democrats and another PAC controlled by Chakrabarti, Brand New Congress, funneled $1 million into two private companies under his control during the 2018 midterms.
“As a former FEC commissioner who has studied the complaint against Ocasio-Cortez and Chakrabarti, I have concluded that there is unquestionably more than enough evidence to justify the FEC opening a civil investigation,” Heritage Foundation senior legal fellow Hans von Spakovsky wrote in a Fox News op-edSunday.
“There seems to be enough evidence here to justify opening a criminal investigation,” he said, adding that Ocasio-Cortez “could get up to five years in prison for each violation” if convicted of criminal conduct.
Ocasio-Cortez never disclosed to the FEC that she and Chakrabarti, who served as her campaign chair, controlled Justice Democrats while it was simultaneously supporting her primary campaign. If the FEC finds that her campaign and the political action committee were operating in affiliation, it could result in her campaign receiving excessive contributions.
“If someone gave Ocasio-Cortez a $2,700 contribution and then gave another contribution to either of the other two PACS that Ocasio-Cortez and/or Chakrabarti were running, her campaign violated federal law by receiving and keeping a contribution above the legal limit,” von Spakovsky explained.
Ocasio-Cortez called the NLPC’s complaint a “ conspiracy theory” propagated by conservative groups looking to receive airtime on Fox News. However, she hasn’t addressed TheDCNF’s reporting surrounding her and Chakrabarti’s “legal control over” Justice Democrats starting in December 2017.
The two continue to serve as “governors” of Justice Democrats, according to the PAC’s business filings in Washington D.C.
Von Spakovsky said Chakrabarti’s use of two LLCs under his control to fund “campaign infrastructure and fundraising” services for his PACs and 12 political candidates, including Ocasio-Cortez, runs counter to Ocasio-Cortez’s call for more transparency in government.
“Is the New York congresswoman – who claims to be an honest and upstanding crusader for good government and transparency – really a hypocrite who improperly hid her own campaign spending in a complex maze of fundraising groups?” von Spakovsky asked.
Von Spakovsky said he expects the four active FEC commissioners — two Republicans, one Democrat and one independent — will vote in favor of opening an investigation into Ocasio-Cortez “given all the evidence of possible violations of the law that has already been made public.”
“We don’t know what further investigation will find,” he said. “But it is clear an investigation is needed to determine if Ocasio-Cortez and Chakrabarti broke the law.”

America's educational system is a sham and a scam... for as powerful as our country is in so many areas on a global basis, the United States educational ranking is absolutely shameful... and this is due to the fact that the far left lunatics have controlled our public educational system for more than 40 years... they divide everyone and pit one against the other by race, religion, sex, and who knows what else... but all of us are the same, we're one family and one nation, and we owe it to ourselves to pull ourselves up and improve our educational standing among other first world countries...
The U.S. ranking among other countries for science, math, and reading is shameful and should embarrassing...
