Banning people should be a last resort.

As the great Laozi said;
"If a person seems wicked, do not cast him away. Awaken him with your words, elevate him with your deeds, repay his injury with your kindness. Do not cast him away; cast away his wickedness."

It is a fact of life Zman that if you have the courage to use your brain and make your own predictions you will get criticized by some who have never used their brains but just spend their lives reading and regurgitating whatever is the current majority opinion.

"Criticism is something we can avoid easily
by saying nothing, doing nothing,
and being nothing."
Aristotle

Stick around Zman and enlighten the unenlightened.

I don't know what reasons zman gave for banning GZ, but I believe it is ok for someone not to want to give voice to a person who frequently posts extremely foul postings. They have to do with politics, but it should be perfectly fine for a board owner to not want drivel like that.

We must be careful not to allow our passion for something to drive us to cross the line.
We all know GZ has been very passionate in his support for Teflon and staunchly supported him when his cause seemed hopeless. However he has been known to use some flowery language that would have been better left unsaid.
I hope GZ will take Penance for his sins and wash his mouth out with soap as his market timing contributions are greatly respected.

I hope zman will reconsider. Perhaps admin could reach out to him. How about a warning in the intro: "All who enter here, this is a HIGH BAN zone." Then let zman run it likes he wants to. He never posts anything ugly or offensive. He doesn't try to sell anything. He doesn't go to other sites and harass posters. What's so very wrong about banning posters who post no content or harass or who are trying to promote themselves and their products?

And, oh yeah, zman is the best timer anywhere when he is hot. He is hot a lot.

Being a moderator is a lot of work. Those who are trading for themselves, and not selling, get paid nothing.

Well, cheifo, you are like a pot calling the kettle black! You ban people because they doubt your boolishness which is always there whether in the 2001 or 2009 downturn. Of course, long term record is good if boolish is all you are.

did you just admit chief's been right all these years? Some have been shouting about the certainty of looming disaster daily for months (years?) -- sooner or later that will be correct for awhile, but if one's been bullish, then "long term record is good"... your statement sort of puts everything here into perspective... so glad I didn't let 2008-09 scare me... good luck! This has been an interesting and entertaining board to read -- and I admit I learned a thing or two here...
