An active Twitter feed would be easy and cost nothing. And they can't even do that. |

I agree we could use Twitter much better than we do.
What do you think would be the best way for us to decide which stories and posts to place on our Twitter feed?
A concern of mine would be that using the post recommendation system as a source could result in the system being gamed by Members.
Using my own judgment as a source, would probably result in a narrow set of stocks being promoted.
We recognize Twitter is important, as Facebook.
The best thought I have had might be to start a board in the SI Site Forums section, "Posts recommended for our Twitter and Facebook feeds", or to revive one of SI's old "Best of" forums, in order to allow members to offer and identify worthwhile, quality content from our boards.
Regards,
@Dima |

Wouldn't hurt for you to follow a few more investing related poster on Twitter, as well. |

I wish that I had an easy answer.
Soliciting recommendations from SI members would partially address Dale's concern that SI is not taking full advantage of the site's primary resources - the members and the content that they create. The Admins should actively tweet items that they feel are noteworthy. I assume that you can sort your data base for highly recommended posts. I would suggest selecting some of the more highly recommended posts for a tweet. It might encourage some of the current SI members to start using Twitter. While that might be viewed as competition, I would not be overly concerned as the SI experience is far more personal than Twitter.
My sense is that the current crop of SI members is more Facebook-centric than Twitter-centric and it might take some time for SI's Twitter account to gain some traction.. An active Twitter account might attract a new crop of younger members, which would be a good thing for SI. SI needs some fresh blood.
SI used to have some well known investors posting on the site. A post on SI could move a stock, which was not necessarily a good thing.
Regards,
Glenn |
