If you want to make a difference, do not buy anything built in China or India...at least until they comform to global emission and human rights standards. China responsible for two times more pollution than the USA.

Before you go touting Canada's healthcare, please read about our own SI Ron (Soup Nazi)'s experience with it. This is from his post on the subject in the Heart Attacks, Cancer and strokes. Preventative approaches thread:

Message 32418602

"Went to my doc today she had the pulmonary function test results faxed to her the same day I had the test done, they told me 2-3 days for results, but they sent them over as critical. She is sending me to me Respirologist on an urgent basis. My CT scan at the hospital can not get me in until March 2020, this was booked 3 weeks ago as urgent. I can get into a private facility in a mater of days, but I can not afford that.

I am still losing weight, my doc is sure its due to my lungs.

The Canadian public health systems totally sucks. Wait times are terrible. Anyone telling you that it is peaches and cream has their head up their ass."

Your prejudice and animosity is evident in your own words.

“ the majority rich people get their money through gambling, immorality and swindling”.

So you can speak for the majority of rich people. If the same words were spoken about any other group you’d be run off the board. Example most Jews are money hungry most blacks are lazy most Italians are in the mafia etc etc.

You proved my point.

I guess you are not around in the 70’s when every publication were headlining the coming global freeze with all the same so called scientists trotting out their models over and over.

The problem is these people refuse to go back the necessary years in millennial terms in order to get the proper perspective of how the climate changes.

Then there is the cynical reason for how guys like Al Gore hobnob around the globe banging women held his age and spreading now defunct scare predictions to get filthy rich while leaving a carbon footprint of jet fuel at absurd levels.

There’s a huge cottage industry of scientists that feed on each other allowing them to perch high in their ivory towers living the good life and buying beach front properties.

Meanwhile they ignore the real meaningful clean energy of natural gas and nuclear which is and could keep us independent and a leader in the fight against climate change.

I go by statistics not by anecdotal evidence.

In the US... IF... if you have money you can butt in line in front of poorer people. He could still do that.

I guess you didn't read his other posts in that thread. Here's one link he posted:

globenewswire.com

Ron already mentioned in his post that he cannot afford a private CT scan, reread it.

> cynical reason for how guys like Al Gore hobnob around the globe

Has no bearing on whether there is man made climate change.

But since you mention it, I'm a huge critic of people like Gore AND particularly Harrison Ford.

> There’s a huge cottage industry of scientists that feed on each other allowing them to perch high in their ivory towers living the good life and buying beach front properties.
Total nonsense. About 3% of climate scientists are hired and bribed to "interpret" data in a way favorable to oil companies. The remaining 97% could probably make more money working for google or apple or facebook or one of the giant chinese companies.

> Meanwhile they ignore the real meaningful clean energy of natural gas and nuclear which is and could keep us independent and a leader in the fight against climate change.

Well we could solve climate change without drastic CO2 cuts... but the entire world would have to do things like conserve. The west want's a technological change so that their wasteful habits like rushing up to stoplights to butt in front of courteous drivers can continue. Vegetarianism would cut 20% AND ranches are the #2 cause of Water pollution in the US behind the military.

3rd world countries want SUVs and overpowered cars.

Currently to replace internal combustion autos we'd have to increase our output of lithium and cobalt 1000 times what we currently produce.

So I do not see the world reacting to climate change probably until its too late and the oceans, krill, reefs and tropical forests are completely devastated and there is mass starvation from crop failure and no more fish world wide. The rich know this and are preparing buying the right land, installing gates and defenses. Hiring their own mercenary police.

Nuclear costs way too much. No nuclear plant would ever be built without government subsidies. Socialism. None ever have been. NO insurance company has EVER agreed to insure one plant. They know better.

trump golf while Rome burns: A Massive Coal Plant That Asked for Trump’s Help Has Gone Dark

Wind is now cheaper than gas I believe. Gas is certainly cheaper than coal... but small fracters are going out of business by the dozens. The self proclaimed Chosen One could have put our money where his mouth is building wind generating plants, or solar or geothermal which is the most cost effective... Iceland is a world leader in crypto-coin generating because their geothermal energy is so cheap.

Wind engineer jobs are very well paid and tons are needed. Texas is now the biggest wind generator.

meanwhile the coal miners who foolishly believed the biggest swindler in US history are thrown under the bus with all the other people who used to support trump but now are going to jail. Multiple coal power plants have gone under. They just aren't profitable... even if they can dump mercury laden coal ash into the water supplies of poor people.

We are pretty foolish. For example Interstate 8 out of San Diego already has a right-of-way easement from San Diego to Arizona. We should just build solar panels on each side of the freeway. They would produce electrical power an have a readily available easement for power lines. They would provide shade for motorists with car trouble, block freeway noise (deserts are quiet), and would be easily accessible to maintenance. The land is already fucked up. What's not to like.
