Give em time...

They've taken over so many market items...

They're contenders in the supercomputer and AA spaces...

They graduate far more STEM people...

Developers will go with them... especially as it'll be easy to port Android to China Android. In any case, Apple as a status item among Chinese is a dead duck. Its over. Nobody with any power in China wants to be seen using an iPhone. The Chinese have a lot of incentive at this point to pay developers to work on their own OS and to subsidize 5G development where arguably they already have the advantage.

> sell only to China and other countries that don't care about security

That would be

China - 1.4 billion
India 1.35 billion
Indonesia 268 million
Pakistan 204 million

Heuwai is doing fine in Europe... much to trumps chagrin.

Not a bad niche to be in.

> The Chinese government doesn't care how much the trade ward affects their people because it doesn't care about them. Unlike the U.S., they don't have to.

The US doesn't have to care about its people... they just have to convince them they are the lesser of two evils. Look back at history... the government protects the rich and powerful not working people.

He he... companies will go where ever its cheapest... if they can

So companies in China will go to Malaysia or Vietnam... pay workers $10 a day...

They won't be coming back to the US.

Unlike trump, the Chinese have all the time in the world. Its not that big of a deal to them. They still have lots of factories and the rest of the world.

-

frankly I'm thinking the market could go two ways:

its teetering now close to a meltdown... big investors are protecting their stuff with shorts etc

trump makes a crap deal like he did with Mexico and proclaims it a "genius deal" ...

The second is almost a given... the first no one knows, the longer Ponzi Donald is the president the more likely it is.

1) Taiwan production costs too high
2) China will not risk nuclear war over Taiwan invasion

I don't think companies are dumb enough to move their factories to Taiwan if they believe there is a threat from China. As Doren pointed out, there are many places they can go that are out of China's grasp.

China reiterated earlier this month they have eery intention of taking Taiwan back...and warned the US not to intefere. The current Taiwan Govt. is pro West. There is a recession in Taiwan. The think tanks say that China will go ballistic if the US sends arms to Taiwan. Scuttle any trade deal. Prevailing opinion is that the US take monetary actions to support the current Governement, low interest loans and incentives to invest in Taiwan. Recently, The House approved a massive aid package and reiterated support for Taiwan.

International politics are interesting....

All Taiwan has to do is to drop a 100lb on Chinese High Speed Train rail track and the East is cut off from the West....

A nuclear war with China would solve their population problem... and most of the country is used to living in the 15th Century.... probably would not notice a nuclear exchange.

Huawei was planning to announce a new MateBook laptop this week, but an executive confirmed that the company cancelled the launch because of US sanctions against the Chinese company. It's not clear when—or whether—the laptop will be released.

When all this is resolved.... I will be buying a MateBook.

Looks like Pixel 4 may have a Radar Chip... allowing fine control by gestures.
