It's been a while since I've seen you post on this, your board, so I'd like to put to you the question again that I've previously put to you in these two posts of mine ...... Message 33471334 Message 33447080 ..... could it be arranged that RUMBLE videos could be downloaded into an SI post in much the same way that a YouTube video can be downloaded into SI posts ? From the "Recommendations" that my above posts have received, it seems that there are other SI members who would also like this to be possible.

the links are http and the site is https. It worked fine in chrome for me until I turned off allow insecure content for www.siliconinvestor.com. I'm normally using firefox for SI but had looked at this issue in the past. You can copy the image location and paste it elsewhere to see that the stockcharts link is http. Looking at network requests with developer tools in chrome seems a bit weird. It's got a 403 error and is using https. I'm thinking that might not actually be a response from stockcharts but some artifact from chrome. Not delving deeper, at least tonight.

I'm thinking that might not actually be a response from stockcharts but some artifact from chrome. Not delving deeper, at least tonight. Perhaps it is an issue with Chromium-based browsers, since Chrome, Edge, Brave, Vivaldi, Opera, and Chromium all have the problem. Firefox uses the Gecko/Mozilla rendering engine and I just tried a Mac browser called iCab which also shows that page properly. iCab uses a custom WebKit rendering engine.

It is oddball behavior but fixable by allowing insecure content under settings -> privacy and security -> site settings or using https links to stockcharts in the original post.

So chrome is sending https on it's own. It also sends the Referer (sic) header. And maybe that's what stockcharts doesn't like. I've only put links as text in messages. Not sure what happens if you use a hyperlink with https. I didn't see any examples of live links with https for stockcharts. With http links and the allow insecure content setting, there's no Referer header and stockcharts redirects to https.

As of this morning SI pages are not displaying correctly. The various links at the top of the page -- Home, Mail, SubjectMarks, etc. -- that usual display neatly and compactly in a mostly horizontal format at the top of the page, now in a messy unwieldy mess with one link per line. I am using up to date Firefox as my browser. What gives? Edit: I normally have a number of SI pages open in different tabs. Strangely, one of them has retained proper formatting while the rest have gone squirrely. I believe the one that works properly was left in entering a post mode. LC

I was mistaken, this is not due to anything Dmitry implemented but is a new feature of the Microsoft Edge browser. It was undocumented at the time I started using it, but it's now a highlighted feature. If you use Edge, any URL you copy from a web page with a title will use that title as the link instead of the standard URL. For example, this: lifewire.com becomes this: The 11 Most Popular macOS Mail Add-Ons (lifewire.com)

I'm not having that issue. Try deleting cookies related to the SI website and reload the pages in question. Sometimes corrupted cookies can cause such anomalies.

Even stranger. I used right clicks starting from the properly formatted page to navigate to a second tab also showing a age that wasn't displaying properly, but this time it displays properly. To reiterate, one tab shows an improperly formatted version of an SI page, while the other shows a properly formatted version of the same page. So I seem to have found a fix, assuming it doesn't recur. I will simply close the improperly formatted tabs and continue to use the properly formatted versions. This still leaves the mystery of what happened and why... LC

I continue having occasional issues with lost posts... I know its "you somehow navigated away from the post while writing it"... and when navigating back... "poof" its all gone... ARRRGGGHHH, etc. But, I don't know HOW that's happening... as I'm not "fat fingering" it as an "oops, navigated away" but in accidentally typing some crazy combination of keys that seems it does that for me... perhaps typing fast and finding a Ctrl vs Shift, or a function key vs a number ? Donno. I've disabled most shortcuts to stop it... and its not that... It's been happening for years. Thought for a time I'd just write replies in a text editor and then paste them in to avoid taking the risk... but, makes using the .html tools a pain in the ass... Whatever the error in some key combination that imposes that problem is... it is way too easy a mistake to make... so easy a 2 year old can make it happen... as a passing 2 year old did make it happen on my computer mid post, today... So, wondering... as I know others have had this issue too... and know the solution isn't "so, just don't navigate away"... How hard would it be to include "a one way valve" in the form of a pop up warning that prevents navigating backwards away from writing a post while in process unless you tell it "yes" that's what I intend to do ? Make it capture the keyed in command that issued the "back" [accidentally abandon the last X time's work] instruction... and people could walk it back to their programmed keys or fat finger combos that are causing the problem ? That would solve the problem for me... and doesn't seem like it would be rocket science ? I usually proceed forward, not backwards, out of composing a post... and if I want to kill a post mid process, can just kill the tab its in easily enough... Don't think it would cause MORE of a problem to disable reverse in this instance ?
