They have GPUs going into mobile SoCs at Samsung. But Samsung has little footprint outside of themselves, whereas MediaTek does. If there is anything to this rumor, I suspect its about GPUs for MediaTek.

Which makes me wonder what if any limitations AMD had in order to land Samsung.

If AMD can get MediaTek, that basically leaves Qualcomm as the only big provider that would not be on AMD GPUs, other than captive Apple.

That would be an excellent way to for AMD to get the foot in the door. MediaTek covers a lot of the market, and them being on TSMC would probably make thinks even easier than Samsung,

Some old news:

Report: AMD Taps MediaTek to Develop Custom Wi-Fi 6 and 5G Chips
Edit: right now, I think the WIFI and network chips used in AMD mobos are Intel.

Why didn't Microsoft use AMD for their new Surface models? I thought it's prior 1 AMD model was among the better choices.

Ah, well that makes sense too. Remember AMD used a Taiwan or Chinese based design firm for their MB chips too.
