Well, the CDG has finally come clean on CDMA subscriber figures. The year over year increase in CDMA subscribers is 9.28% or 49 million. Latin America declined again. North America increased by just 9.5 million subscribers, the smallest increase since December 1997. Africa declined too. cdg.org Here's the question: When does optimism turn into fraud?

If people are wondering the reason for my absence, it's because I've been scouring the US for those Mirasol handelds that were supposed to put existing display technology to pasture. Unfortunately, I've come up empty handed. Mirasol, Mirasol, where art thou??

Well, after another 8 months of diligent searching, I've found a Mirasol handheld -- emphasis on "a" because there is only one for sale on Amazon, and not by Amazon itself. It's been given a rating of 3.5 stars by its users. Doesn't look like Mirasol will be taking the world by storm.

Wow you are very concerned with QCOM and Mirasol! I think QCOM did pretty well this quarter even with their mistake on Mirasol. It's a good thing that they have $26B (or something like that) on the books when they make a $1B mistake. When you swing for the fences you are bound to strike out from time to time. At least they are in the game. It seems you prefer to be an umpire though.

The upstart had bounded audaciously past GTE and BT to hand in the triumphant bid for MCI. But the victory was symbolic of something far greater than a gutsy acquisition of a company three times the size of one's own.
