Highways in Nome used the same sort of snowblower. Once, on a snow machine, I was trying to find my way home in a white-out and stopped to look around. I moved near the front skis, squinted, and found I was perched at the edge of a cut about the same as in your picture.

A sobering experience.

Amazing that you stopped at just the right moment.

Really big storm headed to Tahoe to add to an already deep snow pack. Gonna need that extra water for the next round of fires.

My wife keeps urging me to take her snowmobiling at Tahoe. It looks like there's enough snow for the snowmobiles, but at this point I think getting there is the real issue.

I would wait until this latest storm gets through. They’re having a lot of problems with too much snow right now. Lots of accidents and threats of avalanches alongside the roads. There’ll be plenty of snow to last through the spring.
