I just upgraded my workhorse guest from 19.1 to 19.2. 19.2 is suppose to encompass a number of improvements including faster response but as I already said, I have no speed issues ... just like to stay current.

My workhorse VB guest uses both monitors, each with firefox loaded and 12 to 50 tabs opened on each. Will test for several weeks before I update base machine and other guests ... maybe even a bit longer as also upgraded VB to 6.0.10.

Didn't mention in other post but PC has 32G which I think is probably much more important than linux OS as to keeping everything from bogging down as is the SDD which houses base and all guests but one. Running from HD is slower when you are spoiled using SDDs but its not crippling.

I was a very old hand at various iterations of windows from its beginnings but although using mint for several years, I am a very novice Linux USER.

For me the extremely easy updates and the more recent introduction of the wonderful backup tool (Timeshift) have resolved two of the biggest windows inconveniences. Timeshift has saved my inexperienced bacon countless times.

I love mint cinnamon.

Luck

I'll get back to Linux. Started XP over with 64 bit SP2.

There isn't a service pack 3 for XP Pro 64.

This makes huge difference using all the RAM.

As you know, no 32 bit OS can use more than 4 GB.

I've decided not to put XP on his box because of too many problems.

He will have Windows 10 (1903) & Linux Mint Cinnamon 19.2.

I think that's a good idea, compare the two available operating systems I have to choose between after Microsoft cripples Win7.

He knows little about computers except his phone and I don't need to confuse him with an obsolete OS.

This kid is 20 years old and a checkout clerk at my local Racetrack gas station.

He told me he didn't have a computer when I asked what OS he used.

I told him I would build a computer.

He's a smart kid and has potential.

That's awesome. His feedback on both should be interesting. Set up Firefox and Thunderbird on both for him?

I don't download email, so I can't help him with that.

My now discontinued motherboard has a lot of internal and external ports.

Also added 2 USB expansion cards & the case front panel provided 2 more USB ports.
Best -- Josh

P.S. I did this only as an experiment I've thought about for decades.
