Pastimes Computer Building
To: goldworldnet who wrote ( 802) 7/5/2019 3:34:23 PM From: goldworldnet Succeeded in installing XP in AHCI mode after wasting time trying to convert an IDE installation. AHCI mode is also used by SSDs to run wear-leveling TRIM software to extend SSD life. This is the sequence to install XP onto a SSD running in AHCI mode. Note: I tried installing XP directly to the SSD, but it didn't work. Create a slipstream installation disc (Video Below). Turn on AHCI in the BIOS. Next install onto a Hard Drive (HDD). Then clone HDD to SSD. VIDEO nLite - for Windows XP is free. My AHCI drivers did come in an EXE file and used 7-Zip to extract them. Btw, this computer build will run Win 10 with Win XP & Linux Mint on a separate SSD. Josh * * * Recommend Keep Reply Mark as Last Read Read Replies (1)

XP & Linux were going to share a drive, but that would've complicated backups. 500GB -- W10PRO with Legacy Software & Made to look like Win7. 500GB -- W10PRO with Minimal Extra Software. 500GB -- Backup Drive for Images. 250GB -- Linux Mint Cinnamon. 120GB -- Windows XP PRO. To start alsamixer, open a command terminal and type alsamixer and press enter. Note: Alsamixer uses arrow keys to navigate. What I did next was press F6 and selected my sound card and pressed enter. At this point I changed Headphones to Multichannel because I wasn't getting speaker sound. The video below is also good.
