You need to pose that question to Bill Clinton since it was during his Presidency and his encouragement that the Charter School movement took off.

But I asked the question of you. Why would you be against school vouchers?

And I gave a stupid reply to a stupid question. Charter school has nothing to do with school vouchers. Vouchers, parochial schools. Public funding, Charter schools. Do you get it.

Dude, India and China are much better off today than the US. And this WH dude put these countries on top. Even Russia is looking better than the US with the drubbing they gave Bush in Georgia.

Don't be a dolt. Of course I was talking about vouchers in the public school system.

If they started using vouchers in PUBLIC schools then charter schools would benefit with additional students.

I feel this thread dying again.

You don't need to use vouchers in Charter schools. If a student enrolls in a Charter school, then the money the student's home school would have received from the Govt. is automatically funnelled to the Charter school and not to the public school of the enrollee.

A voucher lets a parent enroll a student in a parochial or religious school. I opposed a Charter school proposal because they wanted to teach religion disguised as Moral Science in that Charter. It got denied. And by the way, they wanted to teach the Koran. I would have opposed it even if they included the Bible in its charter.

I don't think you are qualified enough to talk about Charter schools even though we both are from California. You need to be very well versed in the Ed Code of California.

And that is now part of the US dream; the socialistic dream.

Perhaps, I'm not naive enough or egotistical enough to claim I know our educational system, what I do know, tends to disturb me. It disturbs me that teachers are in the grips of unions and hence so are our children to an certain extent. It also bothers me that the unions have so much influence on our Gov't.
