Netflix Takes Liberties With Tom Wolfe’s A Man in Full

But the miniseries is still worth watching.

We just finished doing a marathon of Shogun 2024 on Hulu. The costuming and scenery were outstanding. They stuck closely to the storyline, but it's been so long since I read it, they may have enhanced a few events...like the earthquake scenes.

The female protagonist seemed to be stronger and more skilled than the one in the 1980 production.

I guess in today's world, that is to be expected?

I started watching that. Heard some PC platitude and switched away. Perhaps I was a little hasty, I'll give it a second look.

That is definitely a trend, sometimes to the point of absurdity. A lot of petite women kicking a lot of ass.

This is before superchicks seemed to be everywhere. Great movie.

Such dumb stuff! I think we know who the targeted audience is. ;)

I am beyond the stage where I'm vulnerable to being brainwashed, and I'm a sucker for epic films.

Great list, good to see Barry Lyndon there. Not to include The Outlaw Josey Wales is an oversight to be sure, might be the best movie of all time.

We watched Spartacus last weekend. Now we're on Barry Lyndon.

I'd like to see Josey Wales again, and because it's over 2 hours long, it does qualify as an "epic film."

I wish we all knew what happened to Clint. He hasn't been seen in several months.

Been awhile since I've seen Barry Lyndon, due for a re-watch...Eastwood appeared in public last month, looking "frail, but spirited"

Good to see Amazon Prime has picked up the AMC series Turn: Washington's Spies. Really enjoyed this a few years ago, will definitely re-watch. GREAT series.

We started "The Irishman" last night and couldn't take the constant piano riff in the background. It went on and on and never stopped. Very distracting and annoying. Because of that, we're not going to finish the movie.

Glad to hear Clint is alive and well. He made a lot of very astute real estate purchases in the Carmel/Mendocino area back in the day, and owns several homes up and down the Cali coast, in the desert and in HI. His kids are going to be instant multi-millionaires when he passes.

Evidently he was quite the philanderer in his youth. He winked at me when I was in a food line at lunchtime on Highlands Mt in Aspen…I was only 20.

I've loved him ever since, but I'm sure glad I didn't wink back. ;)

I read the book that is based on. I think the author has solved the Jimmy Hoffa case. He has some detractors, but he makes a compelling argument. He's a former prosecutor, I don't think he would arrive at his conclusion lightly.

I hope you at least smiled back when Clint winked. :)

I had a brush with Hollywood when Candice Bergen patted me on the head and said "what a cute little boy." I don't remember it, I was four. That's what my mom tells me.
