Repeatedly pushing past discretions has to have it's limits too. Even new bad news has to have it's limits after all that's gone down (along with it's fearful selling) over the last few years.

Qualcomm generally gives conservative guidance. The above issues may be sufficient to cause the stock to drop after earnings are released, even if overall prospects are good.
